No.

I always wear full safety gear while running my saw, but not when splitting with the machine or maul.

I wear my prescription safety glasses when I do. I've seen and had a couple near miss eye injuries when I was wearing mine.

Yes, Over the years I've had broken bones and stiches. None of them compare to the pain of getting something in an Eye.

Once had to have a sliver of steel drilled out,, I just don't take chances. Like Cerran I wear prescription safety glasses.

Yup. . . wear eye and ear protection. Be foolish not to. I had a weld split on a welded 3000psi cylinder. Without my safety Glasses I could.have been blinded

Myself also, including the side wings. My daily driver glasses, cost the same as non safety, I figure I do generic farm work along with firewood, so why not.

I wear my Husqvarna helmet with screen and muffs. I sweat too much for safety glasses, they fog up. save my eyes and ears at the same time.

Hello I'm new to this site and I don't know how to ask a question to start a thread. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and I don't wear safety glass while splitting or cutting but I think I'll start. I do wear hearing protection and steel toe boots.

I usually do have some sort of eye protection when splitting, I always do when running a saw

But thinking back, I've been whacked in the legs pretty hard with splits flying apart, hate to imagine what that could do to an eye

ohh yeah that's fun..."look right here while I stick this drill in your eye"
ive had it done too from grinding, it was a Friday night, and the ER couldn't do much, so I had to wait until Monday, it scabbed over and the piece of metal started to rust...:wtf: ...drill cleaned it right out though

I have the same problem but after getting a hole poked in the white of my eye ducking under some limbs last year I try to remember to have the safety glasses on in the brush. Seems to help with the fogging pulling them forward when the coast is clear.

I normally do. There's a big difference between $2 safety glasses from Wal-Mart, and a good pair of tinted and clear safety glasses. Find yourself a couple pair that fit you well, are ansi rated, and are comfortable to wear. It will probably cost you a bit, but I promise you it's cheaper than a visit to the ER or specialist.

I have an electric motor on my Super Split, so the hearing protection is not needed. I don't wear eye protection with it either. I have glasses anyway, but I suppose the SS isn't powerful enough to break any welds or whatnot. Maybe I'm foolish, but I think I'm OK. I'd wear them for a hydraulic, though.

Welcome to AS. To start a thread, there is a blue Post new thread bar on the right hand side of the previous page. Pretty easy to walk through it from there.
