No. Mostly because I don't wish to make a spectical of myself. Lol
I wear a hard hat though when splitting by hand because I've hit myself in the head twice with a 6# maul! but that's
another story.

or a full face catchers mask,,when you are cutting a tree..............................................damn!!! glad your still with us............

Same as some others. I wear my Husqvarna helmet which has ear muffs and a shield when cutting and splitting. I too have had stuff come too close to my eyes for comfort so don't like not having both eye and ear protection.

When I started in the woods in 81 on Vancouver Island, I fell off a mountain and when I came to a stop a limb went thru my metal mess face screen and one of the jaggers went in my eye. Couldn't look at the sun for over a week.

Easiest solution to eliminate fogging is to wear a pair of mesh safety glasses. Just be sure to take them off before heading to town, they creep out the women.

I had already responded that I don't wear glasses when splitting, but after reading the responses I am reconsidering. As I've written elsewhere, when my son was born 12 years ago I took a vow that I wouldn't operate my saw without my full protective gear. When running the splitter, though, I wear ear protection but not glasses. I've had wood pop but never shoot anywhere ear my eyes. Is there a real risk of something like this happening? I guess I never really thought hard about it. I agree, even a small risk is worth protecting the eye.

I wear muffs, no glasses. Maybe if I had a Super Split I may wear eye protection. Don't have chunks off wood flying off at Mach 2 on my hydraulic. Have had em pop and fly a few feet, but can usually tell the ones that will do that. Only 2-3 in 8-10 cords.
