Don't know if this is the right place to ask this question but you guys would know.
I'm looking for a "low-profile" safety helmet w/ ear protection and a removable mesh screen. I'd prefer one w/o someone's logo on the front (ex. Husky, Stihl). I checked out one from Elvex but it didn't seen to durable.
What brand/model do you pro guys wear and where can I get one?
Your opinions mean a lot. Thanks

Hey, Seesaw buy a peltor balance with the husky logo on the front then when you get it home .............. but you got to remember no ones watching............... just peel back the logo and quickly pull it off and discard it in the bin, then replace with your own logo , weve been doing it for years, but dont tell anyone else ok this is just between me and you, a secret ok..;) And seesaw peltor are good hats, and cheap, happy hunting Graham.

Does anybody know where I can find the old full brim aluminium hardhat? I'm not sure I remember the name but I ant to find one.

I don't think bailey's have hem, I remember sherrill haing them a long time ago but then they said they didn't make them anymore. I think hey were called something like a MacDonald T.

HHmm, just checked my newer catalog, guess they stopped carrying them , these guys still have them according to my catalog http://www.benmeadows.com if not let me know still have about 12 other catalogs

Helmet advise

Oakdancer, thanks for the "heads up" on the Peltor head gear. How did you know I wanted to put another logo on them???
Thanks again Graham,

Man them metal hardhats must have gotten OSHADIZED , I looked at a few different sites and couldn't find any , these are the guys that used to make thew Macdonald one might ask them and let us know! http://www.msasafetyworks.com

This is probibly the best one on the market, and they have a muff kit for them.

They are impoerted from NZ I think. I know a couple people wearing them and they say they are the most comfortable thing yet. Makes the Roc feel bad.

shady hard hat

Is the plastic widebrim oildrillers helmet OK? http://www.taghardhat.com
They are british and I am not getting a reply as to whether OSHA allows the british equivilent. in fact I am not getting a reply yet, maybe they don't like us here across the pond. you may have better luck - let me know if you reach them.

The Petzl Ecrin Roc is an excellent helmet due to its ventilation and easy adjustability. Comes in a variety of colors, is light, and will accomodate warm stuff in the winter. Sherill and others sell a muff and visor kit for it that works great.

the wide brim

The wide brim antique'rs will remember is the model represented in the previously mentioned TAG hardhat. As a climber of radio towers all the shade and side protection I can get is vital. I hope to find this hat over here, though I don't mind wearing the big Cowboy hardhat.

I would recommend getting a chin strap for those hardhats that don't come with one. I know of a few arbo's that had minor injuries instead of major ones, only because the chin strap kept their hardhat on. Just something to think about!
