wow this was an old post.
Well I did sell the chains on ebay and i made a little money on the deal. I can't believe how slow they cut. I am sure that safety chains cut slower and require more power to use due to added weight.

Yep, I just noticed too. :)

The post ended up with some good info though.

I think the extra weight in the "category 1" chains may play a part. Extra friction on the big tie straps may also absorb some cutting power.

I agree - the weight will probably just slow down accelleration slightly, but the extra friction will be there all the time.
