I have a big beautiful live oak tree that centers my home and yard. it has 3 big main branches approx 30" in diameter. Right in the center cup of those branches there is a hole in the tree about 6 in wide and a couple feet deep.
My question is what can i do about it? Can i fill it with foam or I've seen cement in trees. Both of these options don't seem right to me. Is there someone out there that has seen this before and fixed it properly? Thanks

There is no 'fixing it'.

Keep the tree healthy and maybe put cables in it needed to keep it from physically breaking apart.

You need an onsite BCMA.

thanks
What is a BCMA. and would it be a good idea to some how direct the water from entering it some how? Like with some foam and maybe a fern planted in the hole

I just did a quick Google Search for Board Certified Master Arborist Savannah GA and several showed up. You will probably want to do some research on them.

I worked with several people from the Georgia Forestry Commission last month, they seemed like dedicated professionals. I doubt they would do the work, but probably could give advice. https://gatrees.org/urban-community-forestry/

According to this site, there are 15 in Savannah: https://www.treesaregood.org/findanarborist/findanarborist

And no, someone that cuts trees down IS NOT! an Arborist.
