Saw confused

I agree with other posters that the Stihl 026, MS260, MS261 would be an excellent choice for your situation. I also think an 18" bar with the .325 would meet your needs well. That is how my Stihl 026 is set up and it has been great for me for the 20+ years I have used it in that configuration. That series of saws is widely used in the industry and you will be kicking yourself for not upgrading sooner. Especially with what you're struggling with now. If I were to buy a saw to do your task I would purchase the MS261 no matter what funds I had available. If I had an unlimited budget I would get that saw and if I didn't have enough for that model I would find a way to get it anyway. Eat rice and beans for two weeks or whatever. It would be ideal for you.
 
Decision made, money paid. Just bought a brand new 261. Went with the 18" bar and stock .325 chain (reduced kickback). Got an extra year of warranty for buying a 6-pack of their synthetic oil. Didn't want the case (rectangular Husky appears better) but it came free when I bought a spare chain. Time to go cut me some trees!
