I have a like new Dolmar 421 i might consider letting go. $275 with original 16" b&c and another 16" Total laminated bar with Stihl chain.

I bought 2 and used this one a few times and its been sitting. Has only been run on VP SEF 40:1.

I gut the CAT and opened the fish gills in the muffler oulet up. These little saws rip for 42cc

Ms880 or 3120xp, can never have to much power :chainsaw:, that would be my choice, don't know much about echo but have a soft spot for the ms362 and recently the 560

Yeah I'm usually all about buying the best tool you can afford....and 300 is pushing it considering I won't be using the saw more than a few times per year....but you get what you pay for. Seems like the cs-490 is going to be about the best I can score for the money.

Thanks. I hear those Dolmars really do rip for 42cc, but since this will be my only saw, I'm thinking of going with a saw that can run an 18" or 20" bar.

Find an Echo dealer near you participating in the Customer Appreciation sale. You can get the 490 for $275. Get an 18”.

No problem. Contact @mesupra for a killer deal on a brand new 550xp. He's sold lots of them here. There is one in the trader right now.

I tried 5 near me..no dice. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll call around some more.

I have about 20 saws from 30CC's to over 100CC's. Most of my old ones are Homelites and my new ones are Stihl. I was just playing with my newest Homelite Super 1050. I love saws, noise and sawdust. Now I'm going to shock everybody. If you are only using the saw a couple times a year, check out some of the name brand Battery saws. No fuel issues, quieter. All of my dealers and small engine guys are saying they have come a long way and are comparable the the same size gas. I probably will never get one, but I run at least one of my saws everyday, Joe.

To run a bar that long? Or just in general? Man, 60cc costs some dough

to run a bar that long with any real authority.

a good 40cc saw and 50cc saws should wear 16" bars (or even 14" in the case of some 40cc saws, but not the Dolmar 421), IMO. You can do a lot with a 16" bar...

An 18" bar is somewhat uneconomical on a 50cc saw, but doable. 20" bar on 50cc saw is ridiculous, IMO anyway.

You were on the right track with 50cc or hot 40cc, sorry to derail.
