Saw for about an acre

If I could go full battery on every tool, I would. That greenworks 80v looks nice, but @ 500+....
Someone was talking up the husky 450 as well. Can grab a refurb under 300 but not new.
Found the echo promos, unfortunately the soonest one is April. I would prefer a dealer over ebay, but idk if i want to wait that long. Otherwise it'll end up on the long list of house projects yet to be done.

Just get the 490. It is a proper-built saw. The 490 is already a featherweight, not much heavier than the 400, but my guess is a much more robust saw.

Just not as nice as the 421...

Alright, alright... and a rebuilt husq 450 for same as new 490. But that's it. I'd go for an electric or a bigger saw but my price limit is 300. And I just don't need a bigger saw for how often I use it and what I use it for. Seems like the 490 is going to be what I go with.

Have you thought about renting a saw for say Home depot? Or seeing if they have some of there ex rental 6421s for sale?

Have you browsed the trading post on the sights here? I've seen a couple saws in your price range.

Yeah I looked at that. HD gets about $50 for a day on a makita, the rental place near me...$100 for a day. No used rental for sale near me. Saw a 490 on the trading post but bent bar, melted part of the cover and broke chain brake.

I've ran the heck out of the 450's, and I know guys with literally hundreds of cords on the 445's and 450's.
The 421/4300 is a good little saw no doubt, but it's not going to last any longer for the OP as neither will get worn out by him .
I've got the 4300 as well as the 450 and I think even with the cat gutted the 450 handles better even though it weighs more.
Yes I'm a husky fan, but I run them all and do everything I can to be non partial.
Unfortunately I have only owned one echo(a 310), it was a good little saw, but cheap as most that size/price range. I see more all orange saws in the future of both manufacturers as well as some creamsicles and whatever other varieties happen to come through the door .

I think a great saw for the OP would be a used 455 rancher that's running well off craigslist, it's really all that's needed.
If you want a 4300/421 ken has you covered as do I, if you want a 450 rancher I have one of those that's like new(not a remanufactured unit) as I try to always have one or two around. As Ken mesupra has a 550 that's listed, and I have a nice clean used 2016 550 as well but that will cost more than the limit you set.
Depending on what part of NJ your in you could have a little get together and invite a few guys from the site and have that all cleaned up by noon for the price of a few pizzas orand some , just saying .

Gas was going stale long before they started putting ethanol in it. I cleaned out a lot of gummed up motorcycle carbs back in the day.

I'm not opposed to that idea. Either way, I'm going to grab a saw, but if some other members in the area want to give a hand felling that 25' oak, I'm happy to pay in beer and bbq/pizza.
