I've got one here for the Stihl guys...I have a stihl 010av and a 021. the 010 runs points, the 021 electronic ignition. both saws have been cleaned up and gone through. the pistons are in good shape, clean filters, spark plugs etc. the problem is that both saws start right up and rev fine...at first. once they get warmed up they will fall on their face when revving them up. I can ease off the throttle to prevent them from dying but they will idle down and die. once they die they restart just fine but it doesn't take but a minute and they act up again. Would this be more of a function of the carbs having weak diaphrams and needing rebuilt or can the coils be getting weak once they warm up? any other clues? I set the carbs to the initial adjustment and then can fine tune them but once they start acting up I can't seem to make a difference on them with further carb adjustments.

i have the same problem with a homelite

i have a homelite super 2, exact same problem. i replaced the diaphram and needle, cleaned the carb well, ran wire through all holes. i'm 99 percent sure i have the inlet meter set to the right height since i used the walbro tool, this is a walbro HDC carb, fixed jet. replaced screen, tank vent duck bill, fuel filter, and fuel line. your problem sounds just like mine, i'm curious as to what the problem is.

I had an 039 do something like that. If i remember right, i think it was sucking air through the gasket where the cases bolt together but don't quote me on that, it was a while ago.
