After a second look, I think it is Black Birch. I stand corrected!
i see dead locust James.go back and get all you can.View attachment 636786 Did a little road clearing/scrounging. Don' know what it is but it was dead standing before today and dry enough to burn now. State crew pulled up as I was putting the saw away asked if I had it handled and left.
Never seen one. @svk you ran into any up north at all?
Honestly that looks more like cherry now. Black birch has smooth bark like tree on left?Never seen one. @svk you ran into any up north at all?
Good call mike. I don’t think I’ve ever cut BB larger than 12”It's Black Birch. If you look at the pics, when the trees get older they are scaly, not smooth.
It has no smell at all so that wouldn't help.We should have just told him to smell it lol. Wintergreen and cherry are much different!
sorry Mike but we ain't got no birch down here in this neck o the woods. wild black cherry. be careful the rest of the year thats your one mistake for this year. After a second look, I think it is Black Birch. I stand corrected!
