My neighbor had been ok until they saw some trees that I had marked for removal. They thought they were theirs and I was 99% only one of them was close but still not theirs. She raised a huge fuss about, calling the hoa and such. I had the property surveyed just to be absolutely sure. Closest tree was 35’ inside my line. She’s very angry now, I removed the ugly crepe myrtle and whatever the other bush was out front. She planted them years before I moved in but she planted them on my side. Tough luck lady, you started it! 8B398340-9422-4487-BBFC-8E8F82F3CAE9.jpeg4A11D78B-0F19-46E3-A532-C41906E12EBA.jpeg7545B642-C9B2-40AD-A83E-E8F476B7282B.jpegC9FA23F5-C5A3-4158-ACC7-61A8FC308102.jpeg

She also told me a couple wild things, 1) The previous people never cared(about whatever landscaping she wanted to do, On my current property) and 2) They expected to maintain a 50’ buffer haha. Their house is only 20’ off my line. Both of our houses favor the left side property line. We both have much more land to the right of us. They’re original owners and told me before they pulled the land pegs out long ago. They must have forgot where they were. I’ve done some tractor work for them in the past, I won’t anymore. Last time we spoke she brought up the removal of my trees again and I told her I never want to hear about again.

HELLP!!!
Anyone live near Kahoka, MO? I bid on a pile of 250 Savage brass and got it cheap. Just looked at my invoice and now I see why it sold cheap. NO SHIPPING. If some one could pick it up for me I'll hook you up some way. It's at 375 South Johnson, Kahoka, MO. I'm going to pay for it today. If no one can get it for me, I'll see if they will resell it for me. Thanks Joe.

Yeah, I guess they did it because they wanted to landscape the hill. I know the original owners didn’t care. I’ve been told by several neighbors they never came outside. That was obvious with the condition of the property when I bought it 6 years ago.

I fully expected this lady to come chain herself to those 5 trees out back that she didn’t want removed. I have no idea why people think they have a say in what you do with your land. Within legal reasoning of course. Maybe she should’ve bought both plots if she wanted to keep the trees.

Back in 73 we started clearing our land for our house and leach field. The woman next door came over to the property line to ask me how many more trees that I was going to cut down. I told her enough to open up our property for our lawn and leach field. She never had curtains in her house before we starting our project. The side of her house facing ours is all glass on two floors. She is long gone now and the latest neighbors are nice.

I had mentioned the guy behind me yesterday, being a little bit of a different bird… He’s quite a ways up the hill behind me (my lot is 1000’ deep) but his lawn is actually partially on my property. The original builder had probably gotten a little over aggressive with land clearing because he was so far from the rest of us and ended up on the backside of my property by a few feet. I don’t really care but at the same point I’m going to have it surveyed and just let them know please don’t come any further.

Edit… I should add that his place was built in the late 90s as most of the rest of the places around here were built in the 50s and 60s before the original surveying issue was discovered (discussed in next post).

Our property lines were really screwed up up here and most people resolved them in the 80s…To make matters worse we had a crooked surveyor pull all of the corner poles and then want to exorbitantly charge everybody to fix things. This guy originally owned the land to the south of me and I suspect he may have had something to do with things being wrong in the first place. The neighbors all banded to get her and basically told him to go to hell and got a different surveyor. I believe all of those issues have now been resolved many years down the road, but one person had to put in a new driveway and a number of people found that what they thought they owned they didn’t own. Then to make matters more complicated, as the lake shore makes a turn about 1/4 mile down, the lots come off the lake at almost a diagonal pitch. Glad we have a 300 foot wide lot and nobody real close as some of our neighbors ended up owning their neighbors lawn and one neighbor actually owned part of his neighbors cabin. That was resolved by that fellow buying out his neighbor and turning two small cabin yards into one.

It's not just covidiots and citidiots on Nextdoor... A local firewood guy has a processor with a carbide toothed circular blade to cut the rounds to length. He's on the local Nextdoor claiming that firewood cut with a chainsaw presents a cancer risk due to the bar and chain oil so you should buy from him. I looked up a bunch of Safety Data Sheets for various brands of B&C oil and not a one has CA Prop 65 warnings or warnings for myriad other health risks... Amusingly the video he posted shows logs on the feed deck that were obviously felled with chainsaws... 😉
I found one of the ads:

"Carbide Blade we do not use cancer causing oils like CHAIN AND BAR OIL to cut your wood that you burn inside your home or cook with. Remember always buy your firewood by Easter so it’s ready for thanksgiving!!"

I couldn't find a way to capture the video but I did take a screen shot.

I believe you would be liable here if someone got hurt or worse. I believe a 4x4 wood post is the biggest post allowed.
Sounds like this place, "post" police
I'll be posting the new one shortly. I think you will like it.
I was expecting the mirror to be incorporated into it, and though you should get a decal of the same wrx and put a line thru it like the old fighter planes had on the side 😆.
True, but then I wouldn't have an excuse to get a Kuuma Vaporfire 100. It's a much cleaner more efficient furnace.

I have those guys saved in my bookmarks.
He was pretty pissed at trump when trump lifted the woodstove requirements after he spent a bunch of cash/time making his stoves up to those standards lol.
Got that right. There are much bigger fish to fry. Like maybe.....road maintenance! We only have 700ish taxpayers in our township. The ones who damage the roads the most pay the least in property taxes per acre. Shhhh... don't tell anyone...it's the factory dairy farms. Our town roads were never meant to handle the equipment they use today. I'm 90% positive we're going back to gravel town roads, that's the only way the town will be able to afford it. There's no way we could afford to repave/rebuild all our roads properly. Rant over.
I have an appropriate picture for that I had my wife get this last weekend, I'll post it soon.
In the meantime...
Don't let me catch you speeding 👮‍♂️.
