Had a busy day today. Moved a shed, cut down 3 dead aspens and 4 ash trees. I used the 400 and the(as Chipper calls it) the Japanese power wedge. The ash trees were leaning into the woods so I did the back cut, set a wedge, cut the face cut and pulled them over. Busy day...lots of pics!
That was a busy day. Nice work. Um...that saw mite be a little big for u. Looks like u were really struggling with it by the end of the day.

For the rest of my family, I observe their birthdays, but my dad died young, so it ends up being his date of death.

I agree on the dogs. I do not mourn my dogs who lived full lives. The only one with any regret is the husky mix who died at age 11 of cancer.

Pretty ****** of my ex to dump me on what she knew was the eve of my dad’s anniversary of death. But that shows her character.
Cancer got this Lab at 3yo Great companion.

G'day fellers,

I was out on the scrounge again today. I think I'm getting even stronger from holding this thread up too :muscle: .

Jumped the fence at Mitch's again today and came across a nice dry peppermint log which was obligingly off the ground. You can see it in this pic from the other day, mid-upper, slightly left, at the back of the logs, angled up to the left.

View attachment 1077289

Major attribute was that it was pretty much dry, and also mostly solid.

View attachment 1077283

Only issue being that it was behind other logs and up a steeper hill than is apparent from this pic.

View attachment 1077284

Anyway, I chucked them over the other logs (having halved them so they didn't didn't roll down and destroy Mitch's fence) then lumped the rounds down and chucked them over.

It's always a guess as to how much to cut to fill the ute and like my tendency at the dinner table, I over-estimated. Which meant that I had to do this.

Anyway, very happy with today's scrounge. Peppermint ready to burn is hard to beat.

Scrounge on
I can see u r getting much stronger. With all the posts on here holding up the tread and scrounging all that wood is bound to make u into Mr. Universe!

Nice scrounge,, thanx for the pics.. Can't imagine shifting with the left as I've never experienced it..

Never been in a left hand driving vehicle. I am certain that everyone is much safer because of that.
It's not too bad to learn. We have a couple customers with right hand drive Wranglers for mail delivery. It's definitely weird though. A coworker of mine joked they'd be nice for cruising along a beach. Easier to grab you know what! :innocent:

Hm, posting that might make him a former Stihl dealer…
I frequent a Stihl dealer where I live. I've known the manager there at least 45 years. I have bought several peices of equipment from him over the years. He has given me some pretty good deals. I'm pretty sure Stihl doesn't control the profit margin that stiff and leaves the retail markup to the dealers. I have seen some dealers double the price of the wholesale. Good customer are treated well even when buying parts. I must admit you got a damn good deal on that FS, I paid 360 for my FS 70. All in all I don't mind a bit paying for a QUALITY PRODUCT. I will always use my local stihl dealer when possible, even for parts unless they are obsolete of course. Then it's Dukes or HL'S. I don't know if we are suppose to tag an after market company, but Dukes is my go to first. Their service is outstanding and they are on the other side of the country from me. 3 to five day service usually.

I would if that was really his name. That's obviously not his name. That's my cousin, and I just put his name into my phone like that, because my phone announces out loud the caller I.D. when somebody is calling me, and I thought it would be funny when if he called me my phone would say out loud "Willy Nailer"! LOL.
I was trying to get my bluetooth headset to work the other day and my "assistant" replied...:badpc:.Screen Shot 2023-04-23 at 10.54.32 AM.png

Getting him to do anything without groaning is a challenge ATM. Although he did say yesterday that he wanted to use the chainsaw. I've been wary of this as he is impulsive and can go from being timid to being way overconfident very quickly. Besides, I don't have the time to babysit him through learning to use a chainsaw at the moment. I'm thinking of maybe taking him to get his formal chainsawing ticket - one of the first things they show you are some of the gory pictures of what can happen if you're careless so he might get the message that way.
Sometimes the best move is to have someone else teach your children, then again, we homeschool lol.
Ask him if he'd like to take the course, that would be a good experience if he does. I'd make sure he pays for at least part of it, that way he's vested into it.
Speaking of "investing", I see @dancan has been getting into the banking realm 😃.
I've heard this bank is pretty hot :blob2::lol:.

Nice work!
Gotta like those Japanese power wedges .

Only once so far I stopped cutting to fill up my saw and started putting bar oil in the mix tank. Realized my error before I tried starting the saw again. Didn't matter even after dumping the oil and filling it with mix, dumping that and filling it again. It wouldn't start. Ended up replacing the fuel filter. Who knew bar oil would plug up a fuel filter? I do now. I call it one of my stupid human tricks.
:drinkingcoffee:
I've done it on my top handle saws before with both tanks on the front, but as you didn't try to run it. I just dumped the oil out and then rinsed it out with mix a couple times, then refueled it. No problems :).

Maybe I should have rinsed it another time or two.

Yes the M-tronic just needs to be reset to the mix u decide on.
Thats one thing I've never bothered to do on any of my autotune or mtronic saws. Figured they are smart enough to adjust themselves.
It drives my wife crazy, but I tend to hoard things I think I may need in the future. I've been known to find a use for things I've had stashed away for over 20 years.

I've collected a lot of reloading brass, little by little, over the past few decades, often shot by others who don't reload. I collected 30-06 brass before I had a 30-06, or the 338-06 because I figured someday, I may have use for it.

Today, I went through a lot of the 223/5.56 brass I've collected over the years, putting the military stuff aside and sorting the 223 marked brass by manufacturer.

I've already loaded 250 rounds of "used" 223 brass and have another 400. With everything being so hard to get, I'm glad I have it.

Most of it is Federal (265), Remington (130), Winchester (120), Norma (85) and about 50 assorted lesser brands.

I guess what triggered me to go through this stuff is I recently went to both the Cabela's and Midway USA websites and neither of them had any 30-06 brass for sale and I was shocked! Good thing I really didn't need it! I still have lots of it (new + used) that I have not used yet. Ditto for the 220 and 270 WSM (mostly new unused brass for those two cartridges purchased years ago). Although I've found a little used 270 WSM, I've never found any used 220 Swift brass.
About 2 or 3 years ago now, I got sick of my wife Complaining about my stashed "junk" so I cleaned out. Got rid of a lot of old garden tractor tractor parts, frames, transmissions, control linkage and cables. About a year or so ago I was working on a neighbors case Ingersoll and needed a choke cable and the ball pivot for the drive valve. I knew I had them, but I remembered I had gotten rid of all that stuff when I purged all my unused parts. So had to go and find/buy the parts I needed. Never again...

You watch it there, mister…. You know what happened last time we started talking about reloading in here!
