I've got an old Honda 3500 watt generator that's like that. I've got a whole-house propane generator, so I don't use it much, but it's always easy to fire up when I do use it. The only thing that I've ever had to do is a new carb on it, otherwise it's trouble free.

More than I can say about the whole-house generator (Generac.) That motor is on it's way out and it doesn't even have that many hours on it IMO. Valve adjustments are a regular occurrence with it, which tells me the head is tired on it.
It's moat likely running on the edge of too lean if it needs constant valve adjustments. My pop had a generac nat gas whole house unit that had issues like that. Fortunately it fried itself under warranty and he got another unit out of it. They changed something in the new unit and it was trouble free from there on out.

Went to the ATCA show in New Paltz on Sunday . When I got there a guy comes up to me asking about the truck . Turns out he’s a journalist for Hemings motor and several other publications. He also does all the photo work for the NAPA calendars and several other . So it turned into an interview and photo shoot . Awesome

no doubt in my mind! lol ... little doubt u r doing it 'comp!'
The guy is a customer/friend of mine that we kid back and forth with a lot, anyway one time when I was there, he asked me if I would help him do several smaller jobs that day, so I wasn't getting many hours on my tractor and it was getting later in the afternoon so I said "sure and if you take me out for a prime rib dinner when we are done tonight, I won't even charge you for anything I do today".

Now, he's been a GREAT guy to work for, and I knew he likes to go to an expensive restaurant that has pretty good food and I was going to want to get something to eat before I drive home so I figured it was a good deal for both of us.

Anyway, he takes me to the expensive place, and I get prime rib with all the trimmings, and when we walk out of the place, I say, "what about desert"? Well, across the street is a place I knew he likes to go to too, they hand make high end icecream, on site, so we head over there, and I have a cone (that cost 10 bucks) and he hands me a bag of expensive carmel corn they also hand make there.

Anyway, we are driving back to his place when he says, "prime rib dinner, icecream and carmel corn, it would have been cheaper to just have you bill me"!

That really made me crack up!! lol lol

This thing is so far out of warranty, I generally haven't heard good things about Generac. It seems to run pretty well when it starts...I'm not a 4 stroke guy, but I'm thinking of my 4 stroke dirtbike that valves that move past the initial break-in period, generally is indicative of worn seats and/or valves.

Apparently, Generac makes different levels of generators. Kind of like chainsaws: they are not all ‘Pro’ grade.

like J Deere... get the Homeowner thin wall metal chasis... or get the Pro Model, HD thick steel chasis... HD Ag or HD Construction...

Is it time for another vise??

It's a rainy day here, so I have time to plunk away one finger at a time, typing this out.

I was hunting grouse for my supper (literally) in the Alaskan bush, when my foot ticked something as I walked along up on a steep bank. I had already taken a couple steps before it "clicked" in my mind, so I turned around, stepped back, scraping with my foot where I had felt the "tick", and discovered this,

NOW, I was over 8 miles back in the bush, (20+ miles off a main road) and walking just off the trail, but no matter, I HAD to have this vise! So, I strapped it on my backpack and packed that heavy sob out!!

It was no doubt left behind by an oil exploration crew from MANY years earlier, and this was back in the 70's when I found it, all covered up with many layers of leaves.

And it's a Starrett,

What's the odds of someone walking that far out in the bush and happening to step on the exact spot someone dumped a vise, so many years earlier!

I find it just amazing how it came to be mine!

Nice , 👍

Was up at the cabin Fri - Sun with my daughter and her family, and MechanicMatt and his family came up on Saturday (only) to help out.

Set up a new 2 person stand I had purchased last year, added and moved some trail cameras, and cut a good amount of Ash and some Cherry and Sugar Maple.

We saw the dead Maple from the new stand, so Matt went to cut it down and I told him I would cut the Cherry (which was standing but missing the top). Matt said "why bother, it looks rotten" ... Cherry can really fool you, that heartwood stays good long after the sapwood has rotted away.

Nice find for sure. That company is about 25 miles from me.

So true about Cherry trees. I recently cut one up that has been a single pole for quite some time. There was a 1/2" of deadwood on the OD but inside was all perfect.
