Honda made/makes several engine models that look the same. ie, mower. i have heard bad news about the walk behind with a Honda on it. i have a walk behind, with a Honda on it. dif model! still runs like new, and is a real workhorse mower!

I bought a honda walk behind shortly after they became available. Start first puill EVERY time, even first time out in the spring. I ran it heavy mowing lawns and small pasture for years until it got to smoking so badly on startup I could hardly see themower. Bought another one. Still one pull starts. Same with Honda rototiller and a Honda motor on a splitter.

From what I'm gathering, the ones that have the bad cams, were made in the last year or so. IF you have an older one, they aren't having the problem.

Ours is over 2 years old and has been very good.

BTW, the cams are made from some kind of plastic/nylon and are said to be failing because they were taken out of the molds too soon!!

This thing is so far out of warranty, I generally haven't heard good things about Generac. It seems to run pretty well when it starts...I'm not a 4 stroke guy, but I'm thinking of my 4 stroke dirtbike that valves that move past the initial break-in period, generally is indicative of worn seats and/or valves.
The valves/seat will continue to wear over time, needing periodic adjustments... assuming it's not hydraulic lifters. But, I've seen quite a few gas/propane running too lean making extra heat take out valve (typically exhaust) early. Besides that, generac doesn't make the engines normally kohler or Briggs supplies the engines for them.

It's just a mfg defect in materials. As far as I've heard they haven't released a reason for the defect. I don't really expect them to either.

The info I posted, came from guys that were doing warr. on the mowers, one had already done 14 cam replacements.

105 MM Howitzer shell casing... He told me he has crates containing 100s of trophies from his long career but he said he has none that compare to this.

G'day fellers,

I must say, I'm impressed. I've been away for 25 pages and there have been at least 7 scrounges (and several wheelbarrows) posted which is far better than average. Kudos. This is much better than most times when I leave @H-Ranch in charge.

Anyway, after a miserable July, things have dried up enough that some scrounging can be done. I was out at Will's farm today and there was this manna gum right next to the track.

There was a bit of mucking around to get it cut up as there was a lot of weight suspended but got there eventually.

It was not easy splitting, could have used an Isocore. I do have a birthday coming up though... 🤔

I didn't take the trailer today as I wasn't certain of the ground conditions, even though Will was pretty confident. Ended up with this
