I know that feeling very well. My back field has not been fully mowed this year. I have another area that I haven't been able to mow this year due to way too much rain. Our grass never turned brown this Summer. I don't ever recall that not happening before.
JFK International Airport got over 8” of rain yesterday unreal,

So you're not up as long as me  .
I was up at 530 this morning, with no light outside, so I just spent money on the net and got caught up on AS lol. Once I got some light I got started on the vans brakes, got to the second side and I needed a caliper(mine was seized up), so I came inside and figured out who had one. Then I dropped the trailer from the excursion and then ran to town for my caliper, got the excursion washed, then went to o'reillys Cylinders 5 and 10 missing and a lean condition, wouldn't you know those are the back two cylinders. The back passenger side seems like it's so far back you should be able to change it from the passengers seat thru the glove box :nofunny:. Seriously, it waaaaaay back there on a v-10!
Then we split some wood and got the little trailer loaded up for going camping for a bit. Hung out at the neighbors and talked to him and the tree guy he's hired(insurance wanted license and bonded,I'm not), and listened to the little bit he's doing for 6100, and how he's going to trash his yard :buttkick:. Whatever, it's not on me, but it kinda is because I'm the one who will be cleaning up much of the mess...
Now I'm just waiting on the family to get their pop in a group so we can go start a fire at the campground :blob2:. Sure hope half a face cord of wood is enough for a couple nights out :p.
I'm awake at 5:30 - 6am every day. We don't go to bed until around 11pm every night. My days are also pretty busy. I rarely sit around doing nothing because I get bored to death very easily. Raining today so I will be in my garage modifying rifle bolt handles.

Good day for chain sharpening and saw maintenance,

I've had chains that look like crap but cut well, and chains that look great but don't cut so well. So, I don't pay much attention to how my chains look, just how they work.

If I'm not happy with them I try to fix them, if I can't fix them I replace them! Most of my chains have been on the same saws for a long time, unless they get badly rocked.

I got a bit of a chuckle this. Most my carpentry equipment is older then me, but even the newer stuff is still old enough to have cords or air line to power them. Nothing wrong with the cords in my opinion.
I prefer cords because everytime I use a battery powered tool the battery is usually dead or never finishes the cut.

Me too, but often times I'm up even later.
Was up til after 1 last night, up at the fire pit before most everyone was even out. They're all getting coffee, I may have a fourth, it's nice hanging by the fire though :).

Just watching the fog move around, and the the cherry and Bradford pear burn 🔥. I can hear the roosters, crows, cows, Bluejays, and a variety of other birds, even a few frogs. Nice day so far :).

It is more than just that. If they don't feed right, it can be frustrating to figure out. If the chain is sharp and you "dog" it in, it will cut fast, but I like it to feed right. 90+% of the time it does, but sometimes it is tough to figure out why it does not.

I find that the proper raker height helps out a lot. Sometimes a little deeper let's the chain rip thru wood.

Some of the newer stuff is pretty impressive, all the carpenters at work have battery powered everything these days and speak pretty highly of it. The company pays for 99% of it though. I don't work with wood enough to justify the cost, and my current stuff all works very well.

Since my cabin is "off the grid" I use battery powered tools up there a lot. I've been very impressed with the DeWalt 20V stuff, and I have lots of batteries for them.

The drill, impact and hedge trimmer seem to last almost forever, but the saws (both circular and reciprocating) will eat batteries but get a good amount of work done.

I even have a battery vacuum/blower and emergency lights. Luckily, if I use up the battery in one tool, I can just take a battery from another tool.

The angle of the tooth and corner on the tooth are also critical (all my stuff is square file and I file by hand). If you damage some cutters, it can take quite a bit of work to get them right. Conversely, I can touch up a chain as fast with square file as I can with round file and most of the time that is all that is needed. I generally try to touch up the chain every two tanks, and often have extra saws with me so I can sharpen on my "down time".

If the corner of the tooth is good, the rest of the tooth can look like crap, and it will still cut well. Conversely, a little wear on the top of the tooth can result in it not feeding well. The angle of the side cutter is also critical.

I never tried square filing. I always try to run full chisel chain.

I invested in a lot of my tools when the battery stuff was not as reliable.

Today, batteries dominate.

I have the battery outdoor power equipment largely because it was provided for review and feedback. I was impressed.

At home, in the city, I always had corded electric lawnmower, hedge trimmer, etc. Everything except snow thrower.
