Cedar smells great when it burns! At least I think so and I definitely dont like the smell of poo, 🤔so I'm pretty sure it's not just me!🤷
The Eastern Red cedar, maybe burns , differently, than the Yellow Cedar more common out West , don’t know, ?

Heck yea! Include me in the post. I've been stretched pretty thin lately. I'll see the alert on my phone. I'll be cutting wood here after Jan 1st with my old Remingtons. I should have some action for the thread then. And I got this monster I'm trying to convince my dad on lol View attachment 1134472View attachment 1134473View attachment 1134474
I hope your going to saw the trunk for lumber and not split it all up for firewood. There should be lots of that in the tops?

Not much top it's kinda weird looking. Somewhat like a palm tree goes up the out at the top, definitely not normal looking compared to the average red oak. The trunk is most likely no good. It's red oak and not much value above firewood. It doesn't really make many acorns anymore and there's animal action going up into the tree down at the base plus way up there's a good side branch hole that is hollow like a squirrel in it now

I bought a rare nos 43" bar for my Remington supers (660,754,770 both versions, 990 and PL7A and I don't want it to be nos anymore 😜

For 💩&😂 in action, hasn't touched wood yet but running semi chisel full skip. I pull full chisel full comp chain in oak pretty good so thinking Oregon 27ax will work just fine. Took a few seconds to clean up but there snappy torque monsters 😂

Welp, the roast was quite good....plenty tender, but a bit dry in some areas.....🤔
Still, it's progress..👍
My normal is to dry brine first just a good amount of salt and let it sit in the fridge overnight then I pan seer the roast prior to using a crock pot . Seems to seal the juices in the meat . It’s already browned going into the pot IMG_7341.jpegIMG_7340.jpegIMG_7349.jpeg

Is that garlic on top?

I'm planning to sear the next one I cook, otherwise it's difficult to get a nice outside texture with a slow cook.
Brine is also on the agenda.

Thanks!
