Kinda funny but sad story. My wife does not eat any pork. Story goes something like this.(I think it's about the truest version, as it's been told to me by 3 of the 4 people involved.) My wife spent her summers out on the ranch in Montana as a kid. it was a beef operation, but every year they raised hogs. One summer she (my wife) picked one out as a pet. (From her grand parents telling me) she was told it was going to go off to be butchered, but she was promised her specific pig would not be eaten by them,(her family) it would be part of the hogs that stayed at the butchers. From what my wife has told me, she was pretty upset about it but agreed. (Not that she had a choice.) At some point her dad flew out during that summer, but after the hogs had been taken away. Every day at breakfast he would comment how good my wife's pet pig tasted, and make similar comments during lunch or dinner if they had pork. At some point her grandad admitted they didn't keep track of which hogs the butcher kept and what was sent back to them, so they very well could have been eating her pet pig. From every account of the story I've been told, that was the point she decided she was never going to eat pork. Something must have snapped in her head. Think she was 10 or 11 when that happened. Hasn't eaten a bit of pork since.
