Looks really nice. Where are you finding large rifle primers? I haven't seen them anywhere. That said, I haven't called Recobs in Baraboo.

Thank you! My FIL's best friend is a regular on the gun show circuit. I had him find me some. He found 800 Gold Medal primers for me a couple years ago.
I haven't seen any on the shelf in a long time. Hopefully things get better in the reloading world. It seems the companies are reducing the amount of components they sell to the public. I wish I would've bought a bunch more powder and primers when they were cheap!
I let you know if I come across any primers.

RE purchasing…. Me too! When I started loading for my 30-06 in ‘73 I was buying 100 primers, a 100 bullets, and a pound of powder and getting change back from a $10 bill. The problem was coming up with the $10 as a kid.

For some reason or another the government was stock piling ammo, and there is some issues with "good ole" china supplying antimony and other precious metals used in bullet making. It's been a real crap shoot getting reloading components for year now, and this last 2 odd years has been real bad. I've actually hardly shot this past year, partially because of being busy, and partially because I didn't want to burn up my reserve without a good way (read I'm a cheap arse) to replenish it.
Guess I need to get over it, my logging buddy said he would be my sponsor for a local rod and gun club down the street from us, and the kids really want to start shooting more then their bb guns.

Awesome! That's a pretty rowdy cam for a 5.3. She should pull to 7-8k easy if you've got the valve springs for it.

I gotta get my Camaro done also...my wife loves the car. I have a love/hate relationship with it. After spending all day wrenching the last thing I wanna do is wrench more. Gotta pull the trans because I have a pilot bearing that's squeaking with the clutch depressed and the trans in gear. I also want to convert it to Dominator or Terminator ECU from Holley.

View attachment 1218750I was in the left lane with DOT road racing tires and a 2015ish Mustang GT on drag radials was in the right lane. We raced at least 4 times that night, I'd reel him in on the top end but could never beat him. I was easy on the launch because I didn't want to splatter the stock 7.5" diff all over the track. Fun times!

I was going to use LS2 springs, but my buddy that owns the machine shop pointed out to me, via live demonstration on his bench, that they will fully compress and bind. He ordered me a set of springs (the name escapes me) that we installed in the heads. My buddy did the lower end for me with fresh ARP hardware and new bearings. ARP head bolts too

Budget build that should rip!

Bought as much “off the shelf” stuff as I could because I get the GM parts soooo cheap

The nice thing about reloading is being able to back the loads down a bit to reduce the recoil a little for less experienced shooters.

Good to have assistants! My sons used to help me. Years ago a friend of mine’s wife reloaded for him. She did a MUCH better job than him… he lacked the patience to do a quality job and it showed in his ammo… no powder, bad crimps… She would load when she was home alone. She could also consistently out shoot him with handguns… much to his chagrin.

The diesels are along for that reason, also for the stopping power (diesel wheelsets are much easier to repair/replace than drivers on a steamer if you had to slam on the brakes) and the extra dynamic braking diesels have. In the first 2 videos just the F7A's were tagging along, just like when it started in Canada then went through the US. But before the train went into Mexico the SD70ACu was added in front of the F7's. But on the return trip from Mexico the SD70 was leading 2816, I'm guessing this was because if you see locomotives used in Mexico all have the rock (or "buzzard") bars on the windows. Apparently things often get thrown at the locomotives down there...and the President of Mexico wasn't riding along anymore either (they did from the border to Mexico City) so no police/military escort on the trip back to the US border. Once back in the US the SD70 was put back behind 2816.

Hey Guys

So I am looking at a "mobile shop" more or less an 8x10 fish house that is set up with work benches instead of fish holes. Thought that might be a good way to keep me busy during the doldrums of winter considering my 1 stall garage shop is not feasible to heat all winter.

Figured I could roll it right up next to the house and this could keep me busy working on outboards and saws.

Lots of deer coming through my mother’s yard and the woods behind yesterday and today. That included some bucks I hadn’t seen before. Today I noticed that a group of does kept intently looking into the woods. A six point buck came out of the woods and they all scattered. He walked around sniffing and went off in the direction of the largest doe… the rut is definitely on!

And this happened. Went to the guy we get to mill most our lumber. (He did that oak for me, and just did the stack of 2x3 pine sticks.) he's cleaning up around the little barn (little just means it's smaller then the main barn, it's a huge barn ) and wants all the slab wood gone. So hopefully we'll be able to get a few more loads from him. It's mixed hard and soft wood, but hey free is for me. Took us about an hour and a half to load it by hand. The skid loader was out on a tree job he's at. (Works for a tree crew during the day.) Took my boy with to hold the light for us, and he ended up sleeping in the truck about half way through lol. Supposedly we can have as much as we want, so I'm sure we'll be going down for more.

The company that I retired from builds the thread rolling machines that ARP uses to roll the threads on their titanium bolts. They have a nice factory in Santa Paula. CA. up near Ventura Beach. The owner has a restaurant in the front of the manufacturing plant. I have been out there several times to install and service machines there. I miss that job. This is what the inside of the plant looks like and the restaurant out front.

I got in my new Chinese coil for my Husqvarna pole saw yesterday. First off it didn't fit into the motor base properly. The lower left platic corner of the coil hit the housing. The original coil has a rounded corner in that area. The new coil has a square corner. Out came my air operated Dynabrade belt sander and I modified the housing to fit properly. Once I got this in place I noticed that the two pickups did not match the contour of of the flywheel. The small leg was 1/32" too long. The curved other leg did not match the flywheel contour. I shortened up the long leg and reshaped the curved leg. I should have taken photos of this prior and afterwards. The good part is that the coil works fine. My saw started right up but died right away as the carb flooded out. My guess is that the needle in the carb was stuck open. I tore the carb apart and found nothing wrong. I put it back together and it is running fine as of last night. Yesterday morning I was using my Husqvarna 350 to cut up some more downed trees and noticed the saw was starting to cut to the left. The chain was fine. I pulled the bar off to check the oil feed hole. Sure enough it was almost completely blocked off. The bar had worn back on the left side rail. I trued up the bar on my bench grinder and that fixed that issue. The 350 is cutting like new again. What will break next. Geez.
