What's funny is how much I like minivans lol. The boy and wife both dislike the 08 odyssey, but really like the 98, my daughters like the new one because it has the DVD player. I hit a deer with the 98 a couple falls ago and had a heck of a time getting a headlight for it, ended up getting one from Australia. The hood is still bent up as is the fender, and it still needs the grill and the radiator could use to be replaced. I drove it over a yr without a headlight, mainly during the day. I put a JDM engine in it in 2020, the boy and I drove out west of Chicago to pick that up during the time when many locked themselves in there homes, yes we were super spreaders. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, it's starting to get a bit of rust, which is when I'm usually done with a vehicle. I typically buy vehicles that have come to Michigan from out of state, the van came from Colorado, so the paint was burnt on the roof, same with my 99 suburban that I sold around 2020 after buying my 2000 excursion that was primarily used for towing a camper, so no rust.I’m trying to avoid a mini van lol, luckily the wife isn’t too fond of them so I may be in luck. Been trying to find a land yacht squarebody burb to turn into the family truckster for long trips and what not.
I’m pretty fond of my lil Toyota. Poor thing I didn’t even want it at the time, I was mad/butthurt about tearing my truck up and it was the first thing I ran across that I could afford at the time. Gave the dude $1600 for it and he gave me a set of brand new tires with it, it had 138k on it and it’s got almost 260k now 8 years later, think I got my moneys worth out of it if it quits tomorrow. It’s been almost border to border multiple times on the east coast, Detroit down to almost Florida.
If you make it over to SWVA hit me up, I’ll take ya for some good food/drinks or whatever you’re into lol.
Sounds like you did get you use out of it, I try to do that with my rides too, unfortunately rust is a big issue up here and makes it harder.
Bummer about your truck. I wrecked my last 97 honda hatchback, I was pretty bummed about that one. It wasn't the nicest, but had a 5 speed and ran like a top, and had no rust.
That would be cool, I've met some great people from the forums, only a few real oddballs
