Hello, I'm looking to price a shipment of logs to Northeast KS zip code 66025. Someone here in KS is getting hickory and oak shipped in, but they aren't telling me who ships in the logs (go figure). I would like to get at least 20 cord of logs but need to find a local supplier so shipping costs wont cost more than the profit in the wood. Seasoned oak and hickory is what im looking for. Any help is appreciated.

That's my zip code but not sure how I can help
I appreciate the response, most of the big firewood suppliers log and supply truckloads that dont go to the mill. Only suppliers i have found are in Michigan, and with time and fuel thats alot of extra cash to get it delivered here locally. If you hear of anyone that can fill the order I would appreciate a heads up. Im in Eudora. Thanks!

I know several loggers and they like to make money. But i need more info.

Doug, I'm looking for semi loads , 10 cords or higher , of seasoned oak or hickory. Logs that might have barely been too small to mill, etc. I know some suppliers deliver logs on 2 trailers at once, 20-40 cords depending on how its stacked, for x amount per cord. The price is what i need to know for delivery here locally. I can't afford to have the logs shipped from Texas or Michigan.

40 cord loads would be impossible to truck anywhere at over 200,000 pounds per load... I would think anything coming from MO would be in the 10 cord range...

good luck finding a logger to bring you seasoned wood, I wouldn't know who would store wood like that or why when they could sell it fresh cut right now. 10 cord is a full load on a semi most places, that and the rig gonna weigh around 80,000. you could probably get all the green you want.

leave a piece on the ground that long and see what ya got. we all know wood needs to be split to season. sorry to crash in on your forum guys, it just hit me like a brick anyone would expect to be able to buy a trailer load of seasoned trees. hmmm, maybe he wants to buy a load of processed wood? would you make anything reselling it?

A couple large firewood companies in central kansas had a video up on their facebook pages of a semi with dual trailers dropping off what they claimed was 40 cord, looked like half that, but didn't know if that much was possible. Dual trailers, and it was seasoned hickory, all of it. No companies around here have that much to sell, im trying to expand, and make some winter cash guys. I would take 10 cord, seasoned, oak. I think what they got was what was too small for the mill to take. Mill told me minimum sizes on oak, walnut, cedar, etc. So i figure those guys down in OK or TX are selling off what the mill wont take by the semi load. Im in NE KS, and shipping another 6 hours this way would cost big time, so thats why i was looking for a more local supplier. I was even willing at some point to pay increased shipping fee from the same company that dropped it off to them, but they aren't saying who shipped it, i can understand if they are worried about competitors but im no where close enough to take business from them, just trying to expand my business. I have spots were i can cut that much, but im just looking to cut some costs and go big. If you know of someone that can deliver green oak, let me know, i might be willing to take 10 cord and let it sit a year. Hadn't considered it yet though, cause i saw all that dry hickory getting unloaded and saw the dollar signs. I know up in michigan some are getting full cords for $50 off the truck, log form, its triple once cut and split. Just doing math, i know i could stay in the heat and pay some guys around here who need some work, and still make some cash. Im looking to help myself, along with a few ppl that could use the cash. Hope you guys understand what im tryin to do, i tend to ramble even when i type lol.

I think I get what you're trying to do... Slayer is correct though... It is impossible to get seasoned wood in log form... The way to achieve "seasoned" is to have a local logging company deliver logs to you now, then process it up for sale next year. Though many will call anything seasoned, they would be dishonest processing up any log, then selling it within a month, and sell as "seasoned"... I used to send about 10 - 15 cord a year up to KC to be sold. I think he was able to flip it for somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-400 per cord depending on the customer.
He picked it up at my place for 150 per, already split and seasoned for 1 year... surely there is a couple logging outfits within an hour or 2 of you that could deliver you oak sticks... I'll check around... But remember, you can't get around MODOT regs... 18,600 pounds per axle... count em' and do the math. There are a lot of somewhat disingenuous folks out there that'll call about anything a cord. When a cord of Oak is gonna run at least 5000 lbs and Hickory just a bit more.

No way bro'.. You crash away!!! It's good that folks know this stuff...

Thanks for the heads up, some oak sticks would work, pricing up in michigan is much cheaper than 150 a cord in stick form. They had a pic of hedge they said was seasoned, but looked way to yellow to have a full year season on it. Hers a pic of the hickory they had dropped off, this is what i have been trying to build up to the last couple years, expand to this size to be able to process and sell more wood each year. they said it was hickory, and another post said it was seasoned ready to be dropped off. Thats what i was asking about logs that have been sitting for a year or two i could cut process. I appreciate all the feedback, selling firewood is something i have been building up to the last couple years getting bigger each year.

I get what your trying to do but those trees are not seasoned bro. if they had no bark then they may be 1/4-1/3 the way there. just sayin no logger is gonna sit on timber as we can sell it green all day long to guys with processors.
hedge is right, buy now for next year. that truck may have a little more than what we carry on a pole trailer but not 20 cords, don't let um tell ya that crap.
