Was at a saw dealer the other day and looked at a couple of the smaller Shin saws. Nice and light , good power rating, and the controls were set up exactly the same as my old Homelites. I have read some good things about the 488, I would like to hear some owners opinions on any Shin.

It might not be totally relavant, But at the water utility where i am employed, we have a line trimmer from shin, a heavy duty one, and it has not had a problem in the 7+years we have run it.And this is with some of my more "operation handicapped"fellow employees, wrong mix, running with parts missing, etc.

i got 2 shindiawa line strimmers ,we call emm brush cutters ,there old ,but still strong and start second pull

I have own most of the current saws in the Shindaiwa line. As far as durability they are built as good as any saw out there.

The problem is that most of their saws are somewhat out-dated. The anti-vibe is not on par with Husky or Dolmar, they still employ out board clutches. The saws don't rev ( with the exception of the 360 or 377 ) as high as their Stihl or Husky counterparts.

Dealers can be few and far between too!
