I received my firsy silky saw a few days ago and I have to say I was decidedly underwhelmed by it. Maybe the high price we pay in aus for such things had a bit to do with it (about $140 delivered) but I think it was more that I was just expecting too much.
Every time I read a thread about silky saws (i've even started one myself) I feel overwhelmed by all the guys that have them hi fiving each other and shooting big sticky wads everywhere about how great these saws are. Naturally, I had to have one. Previously I'd been using cheap japanese pull saws that cost me about $15 from my hardware store. I've got to say, the sugoi isn't really that much faster. maybe 15~20%. and having only 6.5tpi it doesnt give as fine a cut either....
The scabbard is moderately cool I'll grant. But it felt a bit cheap to me as did the whole saw. It definitely wont give a chainsaw a run for its money as some people claim.... unless your taking substances that I;m not :rockn:
I'd take a serious pair of loppers over these any day.
