When used properly how does it do any of what you claim?
I think a good analogy of that is folks that blame guns for murder instead of the person pulling the trigger
A dog can eat a chunk of that or the whole thing. I think it would be much better to shave some slivers off and use that for bait so the don teat the entire thing. A cat and get secondary poisoning from eating a poisoned mouse. It simply isn't worth the risk with pets around! And you are wrong about the guns, I have already seen this happen! The dog sniffed it out and ate the entire thing. Luckily, I had the presence of mind to immediately notice and got her to my vet for Vitamin K shots. IDK what is in these rat poisons now a day and if there even is a remedy?

Man if you don't get that one I feel for you! The prey snakes eat are varmints and destroy everything they get around! Saying snakes serve no useful purpose is as I said pretty stupid!
Snakes are just one piece of nature no better or worse than the prey they eat.
You forget mice also play a part in the ecosystem

.........I made a TON of money off rodents in my 14 years turning wrenches here!

Rest of the pics didn't make it ...

It would seem to me that a snake killing a rodent would be like you biting the hand that feeds you.........
You clearly said you have ...........made a TON of money off rodents............ so it seems to me they are a good source of income for you.

How?

Hey Bill don't recommend that poison around pets there is no known antidote, you are talking to a man who raised doges for 30-40 years! I have seen them die from it so end of your story!

Here is an article about the active ingredient in that crap!

What does this say right here?

"To give you an idea of what a 0.1 mg/kg dose in a dog may look like, a 30-pound dog would have to ingest a half-ounce, or a 60-ound dog one ounce. Most bait blocks tend to weigh one-half to one ounce, but there are blocks that weigh up to four ounces – another reason that getting original packaging is so important!"

And I wouldn't leave a loaded gun where a Dog could step on it either!

How in the hell does a dog ever gain access to properly used rat poison?
How in the hell does a dog access a properly handled gun?

I do not kill non-poisonous snakes, at least not on purpose. Sometimes they can't be seen when I weed whack fence posts or bushhog property.

When I was a kid, we'd visit my Great Aunt's ranch in N Central Texas. It was a pretty snaky place, and I almost stepped on a timber rattler once. Also, a large group of Diamondbacks of various sizes, the biggest maybe 5 1/2 -six feet had denned up for winter in my Great Aunt's storm cellar on another occasion, and my Grandfather and Dad cleaned them out. It was the 1960s, and no one had heard of the Crocodile Hunter yet. It would have been bad for my elderly Aunt if she had gone down there in a sudden warm spell, such as we often got in Texas.

Snakes do take out rodents, but I disagree that they do it as efficiently as a few good hunting cats.

We used to have mice in our garage, to the point we had to build a bin to put feed sacks in. (we have cattle, and a winter feed area is close to the house).

We now have six cats, and they have killed mice like crazy, to the point we rarely see any outside, and none at all in the garage.
Knowing snakes have a different metabolism, I cannot imagine they would kill the number of mice these cats take out.

I live in Kentucky now. I have not encountered any poisonous snakes, though copperheads can live around here.
Some subspecies of rattle snakes as well.

The rat can carry it out of a bait station and drop it, I have seen that happen too! That's why anyone reading that plans on using Rat Poison should shave those cubes into small slivers and just put a very small amount out at a time if they have pets. And forget about the gun reference, will you!

Well, around here it's a common occurrence! They chew everything and piss all over stuff. I hate them! Thousands of dollars in problems. You ever try to find a chewed wire inside a vehicle that's hidden well? I am sure plenty of people on here can attest to this.
Yup! Yup! and Yup!

Don't forget the Water Moccasin. Just saying.

When used properly ... it will kill ANYTHING that eats it!

Exact reason I stopped using D-Con baits. They work great on rodents ... but my cats EAT rodents ... CONSTANTLY ... and I love my cats!

Cats kill mice for fun and food
Snakes kill them just for food
I am not a big fan of cats either as they also kill other small game that is already in short supply.

You seem to be missing what I said about "properly".
No I will not forget about the gun reference as it applies to this situation
They are both classic cases of misplaced blame

I am sorry folks cannot understand that if your cat, dog, or another non-target specie is gaining access to the poison then it is due to human error not the poison.
