That dealer needs his attitude adjusted with a clue-by-four. As this whole thread shows, the difference between a "pro" and the unwashed masses is pretty arbitrary. And it should be common sense to pay attention to anybody who's wanting to buy stuff, especially expensive stuff.

I've noticed that a lot of people who either love or hate a particular brand do so because of how their local dealer treats them. The manufacturers need to take heed to that. Might be worht venting to Stihl -- they have a feedback form on their website, and IO know for a fact that it gets read. They'd probably be pretty interested in knowing that they're losing customers to WALMART because of a bonehead dealer.

I was a dyed in wool Stihl guy. Now I'm sportin' a new 372XP. I've probably bought my last new Stihl saw, or any piece of OPE for that matter.

But, I feel as his bad attitude is my gain.

EL(Husky) ...... it ain't just for sewing anymore.

Same reason I'm sportin' a 359. My Stihl dealer needed a "clue by 4" too. "Who are those guys?"

460 homeowner saw...

I'd say those 80 acresl make your new 460 a homeowner's saw.

All right, you guys are asking for it. I will dig out my last suit and tie, and clean up my beard and long hair, and get out there in the back 80 and start up the 460 and take some photos and post them here...

A photo shoot of the, "my tie is stuck in the 460 sprocket,' gag.

The suit's okay, but keep the beard and hair. Personally, I'm hoping that driving by and seeing the longhaired bearded dude with the chainsaw will keep any yuppies from buying the property down the road.

Almost on topic: did you see "Uncommon Valor"?

No, what you need to do is keep the long hair, beard and that hard hat and go out and see if they'll sell you another "pro" saw. :hmm3grin2orange:

Makes me think of how my relationship with my dealer has changed. I'd been getting little stuff from them for years, and having them fix my lawnmower. But in the last year it's gone from, "Oh, the Timberman's not worth fixin'? Okay, what have ya got to replace it with?" to "See if you can get a 660 with the high volume oil pump from the factory. Here's the part number."

That's the way I treat both my Husky and Stihl dealers. Most of the time I come in with a printout of the IPL page and the parts I need highlighted. They actually like doing business with me because I've got my "ducks in a row". The Stihl dealer certainly doesn't need it, but it shaves time off of the transaction. The Husky dealer needs all the help they can get. I would think most places would consider me a pretty good, albeit kind of low volume customer. I make it as easy as I can for them.

Yup... I was gonna look at a sewing machine made by Stihl for my....

Oh yeah... Stihl doesn't make sewing machines. Stoopid me!

Gary

If they did, I'll bet the German made ones would be superior in power to the VB ones.

Uncommon Valor

That has me thinking of putting on the suit, tie and hard hat and roaming with a chainsaw along the highway that runs through 5 acres of the south side of our property. The loggers and truckers might get a laugh at that. Might also keep the tweekers from coming out and doing drugs on the logging roads past here. And keep the neighbors nervous. Heh heh heh.

No, I have not seen Uncommon Valor. Should I?

Uncommon Valor is an inspiring, patriotic, heartwarming tale about courage, duty, loyalty to one's comrades in arms and a father's love for his son.

But the important thing is that a guy uses a chainsaw to get through a door.
:rockn: :rockn: :rockn:

So lets say you get a women in high heels, short tight skirt, showing cleavage, snapping her gum at you, waving her elongated finger nails asking, "what you sell". She's a pro what does she go home with?::monkey: :blob2: :biggrinbounce2: :rockn:

So, What's a homeowner?
