I have a small problem, I recently switched to a split tail blakes set up and love it. The problem is my DMM WALES LYNX 30kn biner is getting jammed under my steel rope snap. Almost anytime there is any slack in my life line it tangles. I have even seen the gate tangled up under the snap also, that skeerd me. I am having to watch my clip in point constantly. Im sure ill get to buy some more things & stuff like a new biner or rope snap to keep this from happening. I use a master 2 and clip into the center D ring. I have tryed clipping into the nylon loops but it thows my balance off.
Before I order things & stuff that might not correct this, anyone ever have this problem how did you fix it, what clip in combo are you using. I do have a piece of ultra tech to play with a distal sometime, but i really really like my blakes even though it does get a little tight sometimes. I feel safe with it, and thats what counts. ;)

I take it that your climbing line is connected to your saddle using a rope snap, and your split-tail is connected to your saddle using a carabiner? Is that what you are saying? And your snap and carabiner keep interfering with each other?

David, I've never experienced that-perhaps because when I quit bridgeing with my climbing line's tail I went all the way to 2 'biners and a tress cord. So FWIW -2 Kong grenade gate HMS style biners have given zero problems with each other.

I think your problem would disappear if you got rid of the rope snap, like Stumper suggested.

Also with the split tail set up you can get by with one caribiner instead of two as long the main biner will accept the rope wheather spliced or with a termination knot and the split tail with out being crowded, you would have to use a two end snap for the pulley to keep it joined to the split tail when you have to slide the split tail off the biner to advance the climbing line.

After looking through some of my arborist supply books Im starting to think an alluminum rope snap might be the fix because they look bigger than my steel snap so there would be less room for my biner to get pinched behind or under it.
Stumper, I have a good screw lock biner to replace my rope snap with just to try out, if it works I will order A good double locking biner and go that route before I order anything else.

I'll figger somthin out. :dizzy:

David, 'biners are my prefered attachment link for that application but I bought the aluminum snaps for my lanyard.-I won't go back to steel.
