splitter build

heres some pics of my splitter build.

specs,
8"x #40 beam, 5" x 24" Prince cylinder, 10" x 10" Push Plate, 14" tall wedge, 15" tires.
going to be running an old twin cylinder Wisconsin THD about 18 HP (rebuilding this winter), with a 28 Gpm 2 stage Barnes Pump(still need to order)
ordered the cylinder for the log lift, should be here next week, then i can finish the lift, still need to make the Hydraulic Tank ish going to be 30 gal. all stainless.

its slow going, but im hoping to have it finished by late spring:dunno:

Good luck with that wisconsin. I did my time struggling with them things years ago. When they are running good they are great.

aim that table up a little bit and put it right in the back of your truck. nice build ya got there.

my trucks too tall to do that, i plan on building a snow/firewood bucket for the tractor, then ill just split into the bucket, then dump into the truck, or pile it up

heres some "new" pics from the winter, basically complete except for the valve mounts and i added a rear "bumper" ill get actual new pics when i get to painting it, as its at a friends body shop waiting to be painted...

Thanks. i think the two you made are a lil heavier than this but this is setup the way i want, my height, the way i like working, and its all made in the USA except the channel for the rear bumper is canadian:msp_thumbup: which was what i wanted more than anything, no chinese parts on this!
the only thing im remotly worried about are the spindles, theyre #3500, but theres no suspension , i towed it to my friends body shop about 10 miles away, main roads are fine tracks perfect, but back /rough roads it bounces like a :taped: im just worried i might bend em when it bounces? when i towed it, i didnt have the engine, hydraulic tank, or the electrical panel/gas tank bracket on there (totaling about 700 Lbs.)
hoping the extra weight keeps it on the ground? if not i guess ill be going SLOW down the not so nice roads...

well i FINALLY got it finished a couple weeks ago, i got 12 cord split last week, everything runs great except the front main seal leaks, thinking it needs a little heavier oil...
heres some pics from last week, also took some pics when it was in the spray booth on my phone but can figure out how to get them off the phone:confused2:

Very nice build however I think your muffler needs a support else you could wind up with a cracked ex. manifold.

thats just a muffler i already had off a tractor, i just put it on so it wasnt running with nothing, im going to get a super trapp muffler for it, as its crazy loud the way it sits.
as for cracking the manifold, highly unlikely as its stud mounted with only (2) 3/8 studs, more likely to just bend the studs. also a muffler like that was quite common for these engines (usually just run straight up instead of the 45 i have on it now ) with no support.

although if i were to keep the setup as it is now, i also would put a support on...

i still have a few things to finish on it, like hooking up my engine oil pressure, and hydraulic oil pressure gauges (just need to run the lines) that way i can set the pressure reliefs where i want them, make a support for the suction piping out of the tank, wire the trailer lights, and probably a few other small things.
i just needed it working enough to split ths wood, as some of it is for this winter, but thats done and now i can screw around with it when i have time:msp_thumbup:
