Could we have a sticky thread where we can post a break down of our splitter/processor?
We could have a format for the info.

Cylinder size
Valves
Engine size
Pump brand and gpm
Cycle time
Wedge design

It would make looking for build ideas easier than sifting through all the build threads.

You guys have me curious, not a single reply. A build thread would alow people to easily read through different builds and see what other people did that worked before asking the same old questions. Besides who wouldn't want to page through the pictures and specs of some of these awesome machines. Nobody is asking for your proprietary secerts, just simple specs.

Home built
Mine was built buy a guy that worked for the road commission.
My guess is lots of "spare" parts were used, it is definately a 1 off.
I have made many upgrades and continue to make it better as I get new ideas.

Engine-13 HP Honda
Pump- Vickers V20 19GPM @2200 RPM
Cylinder- 6" x 27" x 2"
Prince autocycle valve
Hydraulic tank- 25 gallon
Cycle time- 8 sec split 7.5 return
Hydraulic jib crane

These pics are before I upgraded the, engine, tank and valves.

I doubt it Jon, I'm so much faster with a 6# maul. Trust me.
John

Every splitter thread has the same kind of post. It always goes something like "my middle name is superman. I can out split and splitter". I say great! How long can you keep that up for, because I can go all day everyday. Even when I'm old and worn out, the log lift will still bring the wood up just fine, and the ram will push it through. Trust me

@Gypo Logger is still a beast!

FYI, he is a piss soaked half grown baby midget, so swinging a 6# maul is impressive. I mean that would be like [us] normal sized people using a 12# maul.

REPORTED! Lol.
I can also out fall a feller buncher.
Seriously though, a maul is faster than a plitter when falling, blocking and plitting right where the tree fell, otherwise there is too much handling. Trust me! image.jpg

Here is the last 6# maul I bought...
Shoot! Ya' gotta take baby swings, and start a round that big from one edge to the other. The rotate 90° and repeat.....

Ignored!

I do agree with you about spitting on site with a maul. I wouldn't want to do it for more than a long bed pickups worth though.
