umm, how about #5- two weeks or so and try not to see how long you can make the title. A five line title takes up a lot more space than a 1-2 line title. I'm missing new posts because I am not used to scrolling down three times before getting to the new posts.

Sorry for coming off so harsh in my other post, John. I just re-read it and I must have been in a bad mood. I like the idea of 'Stickies', but they should not be over used. Having two stickies up there with very long titles for over a month is too much. Perhaps edit down your titles in the future, if people want details they can look at the thread.
I have no problem with the guy looking for help in Texas. Hope he finds some good climbers.

Once again, I am the loudmouth bad guy for criticizing. But once you asked, you got one vote for your 'stickies'. I'm not against them but you might need to use a little discretion. Anything taken to extremes is usually not well accepted (over-editing, over deleting, too many stickies).

I like having the stickies up for a little while.

Now, I'm biased of course, but if I missed out on hearing Jerry Beranek if he was anywhere within an eight hour drive, I'd be seriously disappointed. I posted the note thinking that there are some arbos who might want to hear Jerry no matter how far away he might be. Since Jerry lives in CA and doesn't do many talks, this is a rare occasion.

It takes a good week to move a thread off the front page, and then it only takes posting to it to move it to the top.
If Tom likes the Bednarak thread, he can bump it to the top once a week.
Who do the stickys benefit? The guy that only comes here once a month, and then only reads the first few posts? Who do they hurt? The nice folks that participate and make this board what it is.
With ad banners at the top, the side, and now into the thread list, there isn't much room left for us.
