I'd like to get a parts manual for my 020AV Super, there are some on ebay. What I see offered say they cover "020, 020T". Would that cover my saw? Is mine older or newer than those models? (I bought it in the mid 80's). I'd love it if someone could give a model chronology for the 020's.

Thank you.

mine marked 020 T, 020 only covers the newer saw, book dated 1998-05
another I have is labeled 020 dated 1996-04 covers the 020av you're talking about.
this book shows a previous model at 38mm and a newer at 40mm bore doesn't mention super anywhere like I'm used to seeing the av,s,w,mag ect listed. 1/2 of this book shows parts as 'only france.'

looks like you need one marked 020 only.

Try to get the 020 parts manuel. The 020T replaced the 020 Supers and is a whole different saw.

The 020 line started out as basically with the 020 AV with a 38 mm bore for the engines, points for the ignition, carbs could be Walbro or Tilltison. These saws were available in both top handle or rearhandled AVP, no chain brakes, just hand guards . The 020 AV with the 38mm bore was then switched to the electronic ignitions, these can vary depending on the module used. Next came the 020 AVQES (whatever) Supers with the 40mm engine and electronic ignition with a chainbrake, offered mostly in the tophandle version, this is probaly your saw, the rearhandle option was available but for some reason you don't see as much on the Supers. Then came the 020T's and the present day MS 200's which is identical to the 020T except the carb and a few other minor things, the engines are the same.

The 020 parts manuel covers both the 38 and 40 mm which should cover your saw for most parts, mine does anyway.

Hope this helps ya out.

$17 for a used manual is high, imo, but if you need it.....

Thanks for the great info on the 020's, that helps a lot! I think you're right about my saw, it says "electronic quikstop" on it.

So the 020AV was first, or was there a plain 020 before that?

Just 020 AV that I know of, the AV stands for Anti-vibration which was a big deal when they came out in the 70's. Most saws about this time were real hand shakers because they didn't have any rubber mounts to speak of.
