That's a give away deal! You SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll NEVER go back to that little 026 thingy, I just switched sides, Husqvarna is the 50 cc power king

I'm seriously considering adding a Husqvarna 242XP, just to see how it compares with this saw....too bad I can't find one for the same price!!

But, the Stihl 026 Pro is a different story. I have no 50 cc class saw on board that can beat it. Perhaps only the Echo CS-500EVL comes close with an extra pound or two of weight to slug around.

I know VERY well what the potential is in that lil' STIHL. I spent many hours and plenty of cash making mine a screamin chip thrower!

I'm fixin to put just as much work and $$$$ into my little 353. I LIKE 50cc saws when they run FAST!!!

Thanks!

Is there much that can be done to the saw to "wake" it up a bit? How well does it respond to mods? I've decided to probably keep the 18" bar on the saw, instead of switching to a 16", so I wouldn't mind opening it a little.

Take off the muffler cover, and check out the size of the exhaust port. These 026's came with a few different covers depending on the vintage.

Opening up the muffler will provide more power and a cooler running engine, but will require a re-tune. Make sure your carb has adjustable H and L screws, some have fixed H, depending on the carb model.

Here's a before and after to give you an idea. I think the recommendation is to make the new outlet about the same size as the exhaust port. With this muffler cover the factory screen can be reused.

Oh yea, while you got the cover off take a look at the piston condition through the exhaust port if you haven't done so already

Very nice deal you got there. No need for the Decompression button and the adj. oiler on a 50cc saw IMO. Throw a 16" full chisel on it and go cut wood.

They may not scream quite like a 346XP, but they are stupid reliable. One of the more reliable saws made in my opinion!

I'm pretty sure mine only has the adjustable L screw.

You've got a nice lookin score there! Get yourself a fully adjustable carb and bore that muffler open like shown above. Once you get tired of that, send it along to any reputable porter on this site and it'll really zing. Personally, I was ready to ditch my 260 for a 261, then I had MM port the 260 in hopes it would curb the itch. Well, that was almost two years ago and I haven't thought about a 261 since!

You can search for the Walbro, there are other carbs that will work on your saw as well.
On the IPL you should have the numbers. Did you go to the "Beg for Manuals" thread
in the Stickies section of the chainsaw forum and ask for the Individual Parts List?
