Stihl 028 AV fuel mix

Hello again, just picked up a running/cutting 028 AV with metal rear handle/fuel tank. Question is....on acresnet it is noted that the saw is 43cc and the fuel mix is 40:1, will the modern-day Stihl 50:1 mix (orange plastic bottle) in a gallon of 91-octane ethanol-free gas work in this old saw? It looks to be original and it’s probably older than I am (37). I’d like to keep it alive and moving as long as I can and don’t want to burn it up. I don’t know the history of the saw as I’ve purchased it from someone who upgraded to something else. It’s most certainly a keeper.

Quality Stihl and Husqvarna Modern oils are safe at the 50:1 ratio. But why not stick to 40:1? Safer in my opinion. But it’s your saw, and many others may disagree with me! Good old saw! Good luck. P.S. Non - Ethenol !!!!

Yep, thanks b fish. I’ve decided to stick to 40:1 specifically for this old machine. Going to get a dedicated 40:1 gas can for it. Any particular oil you’d recommend for it @ 40:1? And YES especially NO ETHANOL FUEL will get to this saw while I have it (maybe for the rest of my days). Not looking to divest myself of it any time soon....just got rid of three 028 projects and regretted it.

Any Jaso rated FD or ES LGD don't know if you can buy (presume you are in the US) Ipone Samurai ou can get Strawberry scented & IIRC Motul 710 has a banana smell or you can stick with the standard exhaust smell

Little Al, yes I live in Missouri. Thanks for the tips/additional info on oil types for it. Was just going to use the best-rated stuff I could find @ 40:1.

Ok, as in since it’s old they may very well have never been changed. Seems to run, rev, idle fine but I’ll do the whole thing on it anyway...as if I were checking it out for a customer. Yes. Will certainly do that. At least the air filter is still in all kinds of good shape. Has the old-style metal two-piece one. They’re expensive and can be difficult to find. I’ll check the boot too just to make sure on all that. I’m going to do everything except take the jug off, will press/vac check also.
