Wow! 😲😳
Those are some nice looking 028s!

I have really never ran out of them, I started with one I brought home from the dealer where I was working doing larger rebuilds for him, the 028 came in after the saw owners son stuck a screwdriver in through the exhaust port to block the piston while trying to remove the clutch, it had the piston broke in 3 places above the upper ring groove, the dealer gave the owner a quote, he did not want to pay that much and the saw sat in the shop over a year, owner finally showed up and did not want to pay for the diagnosis or storage charge but offered to sell it to me for $50. I bought it and replaced the P&C with an OEM Super set, ran that for a it and the second one came along, soon there was many more and they still keep coming in, 6 of them found new owners and there is a bunch of them still on the shelves.

Dang... that's a lot of 028s... sounds like your set with them for awhile.

The 028 and 026 were so popular around here that many came my way needing some repair, luckily most got repaired and sent out but for one reason or another a few stayed here each year, the numbers of them build up, some of them had only one or two tanks of fuel through them, then put away with fuel still in the tank left for 5 -10 years then brought back out and will not start. That is when I get to see them, saw won`t start and fuel stinking the high heaven, rotted out fuel lines and carb diaphragms destroyed, easy fixes for me, but not all customers want to spend the funds fixing an old saw, easier to buy a plastic fantastic from Wally World type big box stores. I have often been gifted beautiful looking saws just because I work on them. I was given an 041 that a surgeon had bought new along with the Stihl case, spare chain and tool kit, never used as he felt the chainsaw was not safe to use, after his death his wife gave it to me just because I owned and worked on Stihl saws. I still have it and it has never been started but once at the original sales dealership, always stored in its case in a heated basement closet.
