You just gotta love the old Stihls. They will just go and go, at least if the maintenance is kept up.
Great saws, and unfortunately there are getting to be fewer and fewer of them. I personally prefer to keep the old saws running, rather than buying a new saw. I got rid of my MS Stihl, it just wasn't as good asy older Stihls.

^^^ This.

All my Stihls are 0XX, and there are quite a few.

By coincidence, the first one that is still running great, is a 028S. The next one was it's "big Brother" 038M.

I especially like the older Stihl 0XX because they seem to have a lot of that low end torque, especially the 038. I don't know what it is about the newer saws, any new saw, but they just don't feel as good running in your hands, know what I mean?
A few cuts with the MS and I was always back in the 038's saddle. I could cut with that saw all day.
A lot folks say that it is to heavy of a saw to run for a long working day, but I have never felt that way using it. Yeah, it is a lot heavier than the new saws Stihl now sells, but is it really that bad to most operators?
I actually have always thought that it is balanced very well for it's size.
