Stihl 046Magnum air filter

Last Fall I found a nice 046Mag that had been purchased by a home owner and used just a few times. I noticed after getting it home that it had the "heavy duty" air filter set-up with the oiled pre-filter. Do most of these saws come with this set-up or is this an extra-cost option that most don't purchase? Thanks

Does it have the big flimsey cover over it?
if so it is aftermarket.
I personally would never put one on any of my saws.

Every 044 and 046 I've seen had a 3 stage filter. Paper element with foam pre-filter and also an open cell foam piece on the inside. I assume the foam piece on the inside is to catch backsplash from the carb.

I am pretty sure that is the old style, the new ones don't have the foam inside, just the filter and a prefilter.

The 440 I have now and the 460 I bought from Mike Roopley both had the foam piece inside the filter.
