I recently picked up an 026, and the guy I bought the saw from is also looking to sell an 066 Magnum. I haven't seen the saw other than in pics, but looks to be in pretty good shape. It has at least a 25-26" bar, maybe longer (difficult to tell from the picture). My current "big" saws are a couple Husvarna 372XP and 575XP's with 20 & 24" bars. How will the 066 compare with those saws? I know its a larger engine, but how much of a difference can I expect to see? Is it considerably heavier than the XP's? Ideally, I would like to run a 28-32" bar with the saw, will it be able to pull a 32"?

Any suggestions on a reasonable price? Thanks!

90 cc saw range will run 32 no problem but you will really notice the weight difference but it will saw like a hungry breaver.

If a 28" bar will do whatever you need, you already have enough saw. The 066 only shows its advantage with long bars in big wood. Here in GA, plan to spend between $400 to $800 depending on condition and the value of the bar it's wearing. If you buy one with a short bar and need to buy a longer bar/chain, figure at least $100+ for that.

With a 32" bar, the 066 will be a tad tip heavy (*at least with mine) however, it is one MEAN wood eating machine! As far as weight, you'll get used to it. I always wear chaps with that gal tho and, if I reposition; I always hit the brake before I make that first step. I have my oiler maxed out with the 32...

After falling trees with an 088 the 066 feels like a limbing saw. 066 with a light weight 32 is nice combo
This.
My Masterminded MS660 is great, but I'm considering going from a 36" to a 32" simply for balance

A 32" is a nice compromise length. Some of the logs I'm slicing are 48+ but, they need noodled anyway just for the sheer weight (rock maple, white oak, etc).

I'm ran a ported 066 this weekend at the Ga GTG as well. It was an animal. I agree it felt very light and nimble for its displacement. It was wearing a 20 inch bar or so, so I have no idea about it wearing longer bars. I'm sure, like most saws, the bar is what makes it feel big or small. I will say this... I'd like to own one.

I have two 660's. I run a 32" windsor/sandvik .404 full comp round chisel setup on the full wrap one with a properly tuned big bore kit and dual port muffler for felling. That saw is simply a beast. My other one I run a 30" oregon, full skip square chisel with an 8 pin rim. Saw is stock top end and walker style muff modded. Use primarily for bucking logs into rounds and it cuts like hell.

I have ran the 66 mag with 20, 25, 30 inch bars without a problem on Aussie hard wood.
If you can afford it, get it new. You never know what a second handy has done or how many hours.
I run the magnums and love them. But i,m sore after a big day.
