Guess I'll have to pull the plastic cover and the rubber grommet surrounding the screws, then try to adjust...

Any guesses on the idle and max RPMs for the saw? Can't tell for sure, but I am thinking 2800 & 12000.

Tune the saw to a good rpm, then finalize the high speed tune in the wood. Let it clean up while cutting and let it 4 stroke when you lift.

Forgive my ignorance, but I am not sure what you mean...
Do a search for some of brads videos on saw tuning, it's much easier to see and hear what it should sound like, rather than try to explain it.

I never realized they made an 066 with the bubble top covers, looks like an ms 660

Listen to the saw as she just starts the cut, you hear her clean up, then @ 17 seconds, as I transition from spikes to rear cutting, you can hear it breaking up (lighter load) this breaking up is called 4 stroking and is what you want when lifting the saw while you are in the cut .............. clean running when cutting, 4 stroking when lifting in the cut ............................. easy peasy !!

Ok, need a little help with the following video I found on YouTube:

In the video from 1:14 - 1:40, is he adjusting from a very lean to a very rich condition, simply trying to find the "sweet spot" with the highest RPM (as long as its under 3700)? And, if I understand it correctly, clockwise turns lean out the mixture, whereas CCW will richen the mixture?

Ok, I'm in the process of attempting to tune the 066....pulled the carb, and took the limiter caps off. Also went ahead and cleaned the carb best I could, and reassembled. Of course, the battery in the Tiny Tach is dead, so now I have to find a 9v battery.

For those who have removed the caps, any issues with the L&H screws "walking out"under load? I'm concerned that the vibration may cause them to move...

No issues, but its easy to razor the tabs and re-install the caps. Helps keep screwdriver on the screw as you tune in the wood too

IMHO, forget the tach and tune it by ear, then just look at the tach for reference.

Adjusting in the wood is cheap insurance !!

Just shave the limit tabs off the caps and slide them back in so they are still there to keep the screws from moving on you.
