I wanted to post the conclusion to this thread, she was running good until the flywheel key sheared cause some dummy didn't clean the oil off the taper. All in all I'm 100% satisfied with it and I'm quite pleased with my interactions with Bill.

In case some nit-picker notices, the chunk out of the front of the case is the result of my sourcing a structurally solid but cosmetically challenged replacement case half.

Who oiled the taper? $1 fix anyway

Twas I, since I split the cases I decided new seals were in order. The flywheel had other ideas and I wound up wicking wax and WD40 into the taper before my puller could get the flywheel off. I picked up a 10-pack of keys since I figure it can't hurt to have a few spares.
