so Now we find out!!!!!!

Thats right, I finally made a descision and bought a saw to fit/meet my current and future needs.

I really wanted a very powerful saw AND be lightweight at the same time. Due to the smaller size of the trees around here, I didnt need the super-powers of the ms361, but I did want the saw to have plenty of bark to it for those occasional medium sized tree's.

Due to the weight I was willing to carry, I had set my sights on a "medium" powered 50cc saw that had plenty of power, torque, and insane rpm's. That quickly narrowed the field down to two saws; The Dolmar ps5100s, and the Husqvarna 346xp.

These two saws are very similar in many respects including weight, power, rpm's, and even price. Dolmar had some things that were a little better, and Husky did too.

What I really wanted to do is wait for the possible new Husky 346xp with the reported 50cc engine. This may or may not happen in the U.S, I don't know, but my assumption is that even if this improved 346xp does come to fruition, that it may not exceed the 5100's abilitites, but only match them.

I have used a few German-built motors and appliances before and have always been in awe of their attention to detail and quality. They truly make very high precision quality products. I have never been disappointed with them.

As a result of the overwhelming positive feedback of the 5100 on this forum, I decided to go with the Dolmar and give it a try.

Had the new Husky 346xp actually been out now it may have been a different story, but it's not and I really don't see how I could go wrong with the Dolmar based on all the reviews here.

I will be receiving it next week along with the plastic case and LGX chain/Oregon bar. I'll post a pic when I get it.

Who else owns/runs a Dolmar?, what has your experience been with them?.

Yep... and I was thinking about that 16 inch 021 cutting a 36 inch trees... maybe he put an 18 inch bar on it, but... it still won't reach the middle.. hmmm.... 36 inches.. sounds like a fishing story - the one that got away ;)

Déjà Vu

I browse this thread; it rings a bell,
Another thread that’s gone to h_ll,

I find it sad, but I also laugh,
Sifting wheat from among the chaff,

I know best, this is THE brand,
This topic always gets out of hand,

Then talk of plastic and silicone,
Paints the thread with a gutter tone,

Those less talented; the very lame,
Always resort to the name calling game,

But alas, I must confess my crime,
Nothing’s more off topic than my rhyme.

Haha, nope, the story is VERY true; however, if you remember from another thread, I had to use my John Deere 410 backhoe to *push* the trees over after making the guide cuts.

I'm still waiting for Osha's approval of this method, but for some unknown reason, they don't seem to return my calls!!:greenchainsaw:

"Hi this is "Mr Super hunky" calling with some safety questions. If you could, give me a ring back at 1-800-MrHunky"

Is anyone suprised he hasn't gotten a call back?

Nope

Joat, have you ever had to say to a woman, "Careful Honey...it can sense fear!"?

I rest my case...

Oh Whopper Woodie, you wear one of those little Burger King crowns to bed? Clever.
