I've owned both saws and wouldn't hesitate for a second to say go for the 260 if you can swing the extra $. It's well worth it.

If you plan on keeping the saw for a while, sooner or later something will break and the 260 is a joy to work on compared to the 270.
I'd never buy anything in the 1123 or 1133 series again.

If you happen to have any 1123 series sitting around send them my way.
I love those stupid little saws.

I have no doubt they make a good saw, but the overall design IMHO is not what I would call streamlined, it's like half a pro saw and half a homeowner saw lol.

Funny thing is besides the couple problem child saws, I've had to very few repairs to any of those. Mainly general service, had the few with AV mount issues, but in general haven't had to any major repairs on them yet. So the clunky design, hasn't had any affect on me so far. The few I have had to repair they're not any harder to work on than other mid range Stihl. I work mainly home owner saws all day long so for me modular, and home owner saws are a piece of cake.

I've only kept one runner (lotsa parts), an 025 which is one of my oldest saws and my loaner.
The day one of my friends wounds that one bad enough i'm gonna take it out back and put it down with the shotgun.:hmm3grin2orange:

Well the one Nik was working on sure didn't last too long, but that's what happens when you don't pour a little bit of oil in the fuel.;)
