Ms 261 c-m is not availabe, so when you get it from another country (market), you have no effective warranty.

I don't think the 381 was because it won't meet emissions?
Who knows why big corporations decide to sell an item in one place and not some other. Emissions...maybe? Some sort of market analysis?
I don't think Echo has ever sold the CS-1201 in the US. I would guess that's due to marketing decision.
But, the 038M was followed, I think, by the 044. Stihl wouldn't want to be selling two 70 cc pro saws at the same time, in the same market. I don't think of the 044 as some marvel of low-emissions.
It is not like the 038 was followed by some strato cat saw.
