Doesn’t show on Stihl ssc- they purged the old numbers, but if it says made in “west Germany” were you pull rope , then it is made before 1990.

Greetings. I believe I have an older Stihl 066 Magnum, based on the top cover name plate, with a serial number 1126327141. Thanks in advance for letting me know what year it was made and that it is actually a 066 Magnum. I see lots of part numbers on parts that begin with 1122. Cheers... 8)

Unless I'm mistaken, the s/n should have 9 digits; the first one indicates the country of manufacture (1 = Germany), and is usually represented by an 'X' in the IPL.

The s/n you mentioned has 10 digits, are you sure it's correct? Or is it a part number, maybe? The s/n should be here:
For some models, the 'Magnum' label actually makes a difference, displacement wise, but not in the case of the 066:

So it looks like my 066 serial number is not 1126317141 but 126317141. I was guessing that vague mark at the beginning of the serial number was a 1 before the 1.
So with that cleared up, any guess as to what year this 066 was manufactured?

According to the IPL 'X 25 872 903' is from 1992, while 'X 31 067 137' is from 1994. So my guess is 1992, maybe 1993.
The IPL mentions 19.1992 and 51.1994, I think these are 'T.I' documents, which contain updates about part changes. Unless I'm mistaken (if so, please correct me, there are a lot of people with more knowledge and understanding than me here), these were released not too long after the production of the saw with the mentioned serial numbers.

Wow and thanks freeasaburt! You helped me a bunch here and I am grateful for your kindness. I see now how my serial number falls between the two serial numbers you referenced from the IPL, thusly most likely a 1992 dated 066. That was a much needed understanding as I am a newbie when it comes to Stihl chainsaw repair. Thanks again for all your great help! Cheers... 8)
