so guys what the hell saw would fill the small saw void looking ay my signature whats a really good saw under 70 cc and bigger than the ms 200t?

Couldn't tell ya'
I use a 064BB and an 028S for light limbing.......

I have no need for a 60-70cc saw.

I will tell ya' I compared a 357xp against a 361 about 2 weeks ago, same chain both broke in well.

361 hands down.
I worked on both of them. I like the 361's construction much better.............

But that's just my opinion.

please send throw away 359s to idaho. ill gladdly take them.

here's the breakdown as I see it of best in class saws
50cc 346xp, maybe 5100 in the right hands
60cc 361/362 (either) (with an honorable mention of the 262 and 359)
70cc 441 (most would say 372, I just don't get it I guess)
80cc 7900 (by a landslide)

what happened with the 131?

Every time you extended the shaft, the saw head would somehow disconnect internally. It was funny the first two times but joke wears thin when you drag it back to the dealer for time number three especially when you really need the tool to work. Always keep the manual pole saw with you! It also had the infamous 4-mix “ignition module” problem where it would not start for love nor money. Fixed under warrantee but another trip to the dealer and I think it is going to need to go back for another module soon and it won’t be covered this time. It actually cuts well when it is running and it paid for itself 10 times over during the last ice storm. Echo (gasp) next time.

DISPLACEMENT

59.0 cc (3.6 cu. in.)

ENGINE POWER

3.3 kW (4.4 bhp)

4 cu.inch / 65.1 cm³, 4.6 hp(I) / 3.4 kW, 15"-28" / 38-70 cm, 13 lbs / 6 kg

Who's who??

You realize that the 361 weights about half a pound less and makes more power per cc than the husky right? Power to weight is essentially equal too. I'd say go with what makes you happy.

Comparing apples to oranges.

361 --$579.95 357xp oh yeah $759.95

Ok, I'll join the Fray... :sword: The 357xp goes for $640 over at Curtis Outdoor. I checked this morning.

and Yes, I've seen the 357 goin' for $759, but they can be had much cheaper. I had a MS361 and I compared the two side by side, and I decided to go with the Husky 357. I sold the MS361 on Feebay. Dont get me wrong now, The 361 is a good saw, but I feel the 357 had the edge in performance and it felt better in the hands- "more comfy" IMHO. :)

Dont own any 200s,to dangerous when i pay workers comp. Each to there own there lots of reasons not to have them we won't go there.

You're correct here. The MS200T is for professional use, if your guys don't have the proper skills and you can't teach them then you made the right choice. My dealer also gave the crew a MS250 to try out. We had been running all MS260s and he thought the price of the 250 would be attractive to us. No way! The 250 is a POS in dirty conditions like we were in. I run a strong MS260 but I really don't care for it a whole lot. The vibration bothers me more than any other saw I own. Still it has been a rugged saw and very reliable. BTW I own both a 361 and a 357 and prefer the 357 by a wide margin.

Still it is up to the owner/user, aka the guy laying out the cash, to buy which ever saw he prefers.

oh yeah I have ran a 361 Why buy that overpriced plastic poc when you can spend less on a 359 and mod better performance out of it. In fact a modded 455 rancher will stay with a 361 for far less money.

There is no way a modded 455 will stay with a 361. I have a 455 and its a strato, muffler mod did very little to it. I had to do some serious porting work (lowering the intake, raising the bottom and top of the transfer, and widening the exhaust like crazy) and it still can't keep up with a Stihl 310 muffler modded, which I know is 59cc and the 455 is 55.5cc, but it should be in the ballpark. The 455 is also a clamshell design with a wide powerband and stock it is only rated for 3.4hp and weighs just under 13lbs. I have not run a 361, but there is no chance a 455 muffler modded could keep up with the 361, its well behind a muffler modded 310.

Couldn't agree more. You're DEAD ON!

And yeah, the 372 / 2171 is awesome, but I'm a bigger fan of the 441 myself as well.

:greenchainsaw:

I cant believe how BAD the small saws that are in the range,I have a 361 (i wouldn't buy another)my local dealer gave me a 025 demo to try out for behind the chipper light ground saw as a "cheap"throw away saw,It got a big thumbs down by the ground guys and i don't blame them.

I honestly cant see a saw in the stihl range up till the 046(then you might as well get a 066)

The 365 husky is WAY better as a ground saw and runs a 20" nicely and its cheaper.

I have ALOT of work saws if your wondering why ive started this thread.

This thread is a joke right? seriously have you seen husky's small saw offerings?- home owner saws under 50cc, I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire!

If you want a small saw built the same as a pro model, look no further than
Dolmar/Makita.

No plastic crank cases, all vertically split magnesium or aluminum, and so far as I know Mahle cylinders.:greenchainsaw:

exactly, it takes a bigger heavier motor to only make a little more power, that's who's who. And while we're on the subject, do you know how long it's been since the "0" series Stihls have been replaced by the MS series. I call BS and trolling.
Fredmc, have you ever run a 361? Seriousley?

My thoughts exactly.

If you seen the home owners that are using them you would praise them for that. Anyway I think the 346xp is a great pro home owner saw and modded will compete with a stock 361.
