I was reading some of those the other night. I don't think they were intended to be, but some of them are pretty priceless. One guy said his saw ran "like a spotted a$$ed ape." The little editors notes from Stihl are funny too, such as " Stihl does not recommend the use of a chainsaw in a boat."

You are so right. Some of the stories really make you think about taking the right steps to take when using a saw.

and the one saying keep kids away form equiptment LOL

I remember when the Scott Able fire came through I worked 12 hour day's 14 on, 2 off for 72 day's without one problem................................................Oh, wait that was a Husky.

Well I remember when........................................No, that was a Solo.

Well there was the time that.......................................Nope, that was a Dolmar.

Ok, now I've got it. I remember I was felling trees with an 045 mag. Worked about 4 hours, when the front handle fell off the saw (screw's vibrated right out). I got mad, carried that POS down the strip, and threw it in the back of my truck putting a large dent in the fender well. Grabbed my Husky 2100, went back to work and haven't looked back since (True story).

I know Stihl makes a good saw now day's, but that little event soured me on them.

......
i have never had a problem with a stihl, but iv had many similar problems with husky but id buy one. Most saw problems is owner error IMO. Let them sit with gas and have to play with throttle to get it up to speed saw dies randomly and wont start. My 039 hasn't been in the shop since i bought it just routine maintenance and 12 years later needs a new fuel line. Reasonable if you ask me.

It's funny that this got mentioned. I was researching a new Stihl saw for my work today and I ran across the "Stihl stories" on the website. I read through some and it was pretty cool. I had not noticed them before when I was on their website.

Same here, never new they existed

Disappointed....

No testimonials about the Stihl MS361 curing cancer or causing the opposite sex to swoon and get weak in the knees.:monkey: :hmm3grin2orange:

I remember when i was running my new 372xp and all the screws were loose and ready to fall out. I went to the truck grabbed my scrench and tightened them up and went back to work.
It is all in how you handle things, and sometimes that depends on what day it is!

Hahaha. Evidently you guy's haven't ran many 045's.
Those thing's had verry little, if any anti-vibe. I was falling timber for the mill here. I went over my saw's every evening to make sure they were ready for the next day's work. I had tightened the screw's on that saw the night before (yes, they were loose). On a pro saw a man would expect to get more than 4 hours before having to replace most of the screws wouldn't he?
How long had it been since you tightened the screw's on that 372 (be honest now)?
I've owned several Stihl's since then, some were good, some were not.
I've owned several Husky's, Dolmar's, and Solo's since then. Some were good, some were not. I just thought I'd share a true Stihl Story that would never end up on their website.

How many thousand cord's did that 039 cut in that 12 year's? How many times have you had to rebuild it? That's the true test, is it being used every day, or sitting on the shelf?
I've only lost 2 saw's to "owner error" in the last 25 years. One was in 1989 (got sat on by a big Doug Fir), and the other got ran over this year.

I have. The lack of AV got me thinking it would be good to make Martinis with, the way James Bond likes them. The thing did have good power though and I like the looks of them too.

I'll give em that, they had good power.
I never thought of the martini, but I did think about putting a pint of cream in each of my pant pockets and making butter.

Got one I can borrow? Closest I have come is a MS441 which will be my next saw that I buy. I am an equal opportunity saw buyer. Just so happens I get more saw for my money with the orange and white.

Nope, I got rid of mine right after it put that dent in my fender well.

You'll like the anti-vibe on the 441. I don't care for the 441 because the strato's just won't run at my elevation, but I hear they're ok at sea level. The old 044/440 was a heck of a good saw, as well as the 460.
I'm not so sure about the "more saw for my money" part though.
