TSC has 2 valspar rattle can tractor paints. I believe one is an enamel. The other is a urethane (restoration). I have used both on tractors for a few years. They both hold up very well. The better stuff with hardener in a spray gun is incrediblely durable. WDO

I'm currently repainting a Dayton ( Poulan 3400) in Valspar Tractor and Implement paint. Its a rattle can enamel in Allis Chalmers Orange. Looks good but I don't know how it will hold up. Baked it in my small oven so I'm hoping it will do okey. Actually the color also looks alot like Stihl red. As soon as I get parts for the handle I'll post pictures.

"WDO,

Was this done with a spray can right off the shelf? What kind of prep did you do to the piece, media blast, prime (# of coats)? I have a piece of stihl hardware I want to paint and it looks like you got professional looking results (operator experience perhaps?).

What part of IL are you in? I'm in Madison county across the river from STL."

I cleaned it with cheap ovener. Sanded the chipped areas to feather them. Primed, sanded, and shot 4 or 5 top coats on. It was done with a rattle can. I live in Peoria. WDO

Was that immediately after painting and still tacky ?

Yea, I let it sit for a bit so I can pick it up w/o screwing up the paint. Then pop it in the oven. I try to stay at or below 250 degrees. Looks good but like I said time will tell if it will hold up. Course I don't plan on using the Dayton much, if at all, as I've got several Poulan 3400's to get dirty. This is my "trailer queen".

Its amazing how much they want for those silly little rivets,.. I ground down a punch to 8p size so I can tap them out and re-use them :)
