I finally got to see in person one of the new stihl 270's the other day at my local dealer. What I noticed is that it had what seemed to be the old style fully adjustable carb on it....it had the low ...and high speed adjustment....and also the low idle adjustment. With all the carb adjustment talk on the 026's here lately....I was wondering if this is really the old style carb or what? I'm sure it has the limiter caps....but thats no biggie. Has anybody else seen this? I havent seen any comments on the carbs on the 270's. Was also glad to see that the new model 028 was available with bar nuts rather than the quick adjust POS version. The dealer also made a comment about the muffler being one of the catalyntic converter type. Any comments????

The ones here (I saw 3 of the 270 models at my dealer's Friday) do not have a high speed adjustment. If Stihl brings back the adjustable jets I may consider buying another one.

I did.

Only big difference I noticed was the vibration was very low.

They changed the mounts on these saws...

I ran a 270 at the end of September. I was imprtessed with it's lack of vibration. I do not rember much about the power. I am extremely surprised at the slow speed that the 270 and 280 are getting to the dealers. From what the factory rep told me the 270 has been in production for at least 6 months. I can assure you that the 270 has been out in my area for some time. I stopped into a a new dealer a month ago and he had plenty of 270's. He was dealing with a guy to trade his 028 in on a 280. The dealer said he would have the 280's in shortly.

I think I will buy a new 270 and run the crap out of it for 50 hours or so. I will then put it on ebay and see if it has the same resale value as the 290. The 290 is a $300 saw new and sells for $250 or more used on ebay.
