outdoortype said:I recently emailed Stihl & Husqvarna regarding their recommendations for the use of synthetic or conventional oil. They both responded very quickly and advocated the use of synthetics. Stihl recommended the synth/blend (HP?)& Husqvarna recommended their new XP silver bottle. Husqvarna wrote that I would never switch back to conventional due to the superior protection/lube qualities of synthetic. I wonder how much their answers were influenced by the EPA push.

My 2c on blend - If you want synthetic, get a "full synthetic"...

Only time will tell... but my saws never mess up (touch wood!) so my chances of seeing the internals are limited
All I know is every engine I pull down that's been run on a major brand synthetic is real nice inside... no matter how hard they have been worked or "abused".

Andy, are you running 50:1 or a little richer in the older saws?
