Hi all. I have a '98 rayco rg20hd, 20 hp Kohler engine, about 450 hours on it. while cranking to start it back fires through the muffler. Anyone else encounter this? Any ideas what it could be.
It happens very rarely, approx 3 or 4 times since April.

Does it do it after already being run and then shut down? If It killed with the wheel turning you can cycle fuel/air mix through the engine and into the muffler where it ignites upon restarting.

Get them to supply a spark arrestor add on for your muffler if it gets too annoying. Also check the choke and throttle position. I've got a 24 hp Honda that does the same thing when you bring it down from full rpm. Scares the he11 out of those who aren't aware of it. Fun to scare them though when they're not awake!:D
