Dan'l, The $1.60 per inch is for the Rayco stuff? Almost everything(Including the Rayco material) eventually breaks at the attachment points due to flexing. I have used old Truck tire boots(this is the liner that goes around the rim under the tube) It works pretty well -cuts with a sharp knife but it isn't actually flat nor is it the same thickness all the way across. Innertubes can be cut to fit but are kind of light. Mudflaps are kind of heavy and hard to cut. 10-12 oz vegetable tanned leather soaked with neetsfoot oil works pretty good- not as stiff as the original equip though and it needs occassional reoiling but it isn't inclined to break. Carpet scraps are lousy.
