So yesterday, am, I finally switched phones. I had bought that SONIM XP3 super phone, paid almost 500 for it, you can run it over with a tank, water proof to 100', map terrain feature's, GPS locater any where in the world, blablabla, all that dont mean nothing, if the person you are trying to talk to cant here you. Have been battling Sonim about this for a while, even tho they advertise an unconditional 3 year warranty. So, in other words. DONT BUY IT, ITS JUNK! Switched my sim card to my sons old phone, couldn't figure this one out, all these apps, weird little icons for all this stuff i don't need, doesn't let you know you had a missed call on the desktop, you have to go in an look. Slayer called me yesterday, didn't see it till this am, sorry man, hope your still in the area! Ill call ya later today. Not to mention the 3 customers who called for bids yesterday, THAT I DIDN'T SEE!!, WHAT HAPPENED TO REAL PHONES!, I just want the basics, don't need all the other junk. I don't text, don't surf the web on it, don't need the gps really, just need a sturdy phone that people can hear me on, and one that still shows missed calls/voicemail on the front page. Remember the old Nokia bricks! I had one, lasted like 7 years, man too have one of those again! No I-phone,that breaks with the slightest touch, no super texting phone, just a damn phone!:bang:
Dont get me wrong, I think technology is great, but not when I just need to talk, they figured that out along time ago! So leave it alone!

Dont like the new format AS, the old one better, this reminds me of ********.
Little pissy today, hate missing bids.:(

Yo YO yo!! mornin mr bean. Yah, i agree, these new phones are WACK for sure. i mean ya can do damn near anything ya dont want to, and usually nothing that ya do want to! i bought one of them there "DROID's" about a month or 2 ago, took a couple weeks to get used to. and to figure out all the fancy apps N crap. (wow...they got some KILLER bikini girl apps!!...hehehhehehe) There is one awesome feature i love about it, any pictures i take with it i can automatially upload to "facebook"..which is awsome for posting pictures on here (..if i can figure out how to due to new forum update..yuck..) i need to see if its got an app where i can just upload pictures to any given random site via a login. that would be AWESOME!!

hmmm...with that in mind....wander if AS.com is now smartphone friendly!!??!?!? we shall see! mUhahahahA!!

ya gotta be a teenager to work them new phones bro........:D

You hit that nail on the head! I have 3 boys, 19,17 and 14, they are very tech savy, always teaching me something new! Woke my youngest son up this am , real early! to show me how to get to missed calls!

I've considered getting a new phone, but I'm almost afraid to. Some apps would be nice (ability to take photos, use the unlimited texting my plan has, etc). But the phone I have now (basic, but built to military specs) does the job and has never let me down. It's a Sanyo 700 pro. Don't know if they are still available.

I'll agree with the Sanyo mil spec phone. I have the SCP-7050 and it's been rock solid. I picked it off ebay for like $40. The only issue I had was the previous number I was given when I switched from a 7 year old Sanyo was someone who had some debt....

So I ended up with a debt collection agency calling me a couple times a week. It's pretty much stopped after the 1st year or so.

Sure as hell has better call quality and reception than my wife's Iphone or her previous Motorola Razr V8.

I've got 3 daughters, 20, 18, 14 and a 15 year old boy......all with smartphones and more electronic savvy than all of us put together.....:D

I still use the nokia "bricks", or something like them. All my AT&T contracts are expired, but I don't upgrade. When one of our phones dies or gets lost/destroyed, I just buy another $20 phone on ebay. In fact, I keep a couple of spare phones around, just to cover the failures.

Pop in a new simm card (free), and you are back in business.

No, I don't do any e-mail, gps, or internet nonsense on my phone. Still thinking about it though...

I have a Casio, ''Rock''. Its pretty basic but is military spc. Iv'e dropped it once 80' to hard dirt and it didn't faze it. I gone swimming with it. I had my pocket full of dirt with my phone in it. handled it no problem. I am directionally challaged,so I have GPS on mine, it has saved my ass more then once getting from point A to point B in time.
Only time I text is when calling in sick when the fish are biting. Beastmaster

I got a Rugby II from AT&T last Summer. Before that I was buying cheap Nokia phones because I would tear phones up so frequently. I tore my last Nokia up when I came thirty feet out of that tree for those of you who remember. That Rugby II has worked out great. It is built to military spec as well and best of all it was a free upgrade from AT&T.

I don't think it is a smart phone but I can get on the web with it, check email and all that stuff if I want to. It's got a camera that takes really nice pics for a phone and video as well. I don't need a computer at work, all I need to do is talk business when I need to. I do like to be able to text, check the weather and email when I get bored hunting so I can do that if I choose. It also has GPS but I never use it.

What I really like about the phone is how tough and well built it is; Waterproof and all. I bought an Otterbox to carry it in my ditty bag on my saddle when I climb. It's tough but I like to take the extra precaution when I'm climbing. I'll be using it for fishing as well. The phone also has a an outdoor sound profile which makes it ring really loud so I can hear it outdoors as long as I'm not too close to running equipment. It has some kind of noise canceling software so people on the other end can hear me talk over running equipment and other background noise.

All in all, I have been very pleased with this phone.

You should get the Blackberry Storm, I like mine.
Jeff

Fist off, it took 2 minutes for my login

I am going to send off my XP3 today, hopefully they will fix it, after using my sons "Tribe"
I want it back, these buttons are so small! The XP3 buttons are big, easy to push! Should not have been so harsh on it, Ill wait until they send it back. If they dont fix it, well see if it holds up to the test they day it does, I dont have a tank, but I do have a Ford L-7000. Loaded with wood, it should be pretty damn heavy, well see if the phone can handle that! Ill video it!
But, lets hope I dont have too! Just want the darn thing to work!

droid x here and its great.

original droid was great too. tough as he'll but I hated the slideout keyboard.still have it for a spare.

both are rooted.the wireless tether is slick.

those casios were tough but the sound quality left a lot to be desired.
