Looking for the correct rivets for the older, Oregon bar that was out for few few yrs & discontinued(late 70's, early 80's). It had a replaceable sprocket tip with three rivets;arched to match the end of the bar.

I've been corresponding with a gal named Rebecca @Oregon and so far, she has nothing. In my last email, I just asked for a pic of the rivet itself and its dimensions.

I have lots of spare Jonsered parts for 80's if you want to swap something....within reason...three rivets shouldn't hold a king's ransom.:msp_tongue:

Hiya Kevin.:msp_thumbup:

I just remembered that Cannon used those tips for a time as well. Might try contacting them. They're still in business (and using Oregon singe rivet tips on their bars now). My guess is that somebody here will be able to hook you up for now though.

I didn't realize that Cannon used those for a period as well. I'll try that too!

Ima lookin for Stihl 041 lower handle bar buffer mount 1110 790 9600. The one with threads out both sides.

Anyone can help? I can pay if you like, or trade if you prefer.

Bailey's has all kinds of tip rivets and I'm sure they have what you're looking for. I believe those are the 1/8" rivets.

"Bailley's" told me I was running "antique saws" and "good luck". So the pejorative question there is; why am I doing business with them still?

I'll try to get some measurements and post back today.

Go to the Baileys forum on this site and ask Gregg(Grand Dog). If he can't fix you up I'll be surprised.

This is a rare occasion JJ may have been wrong. :msp_ohmy:
If you called over the weekend, unfortunately you got what I consider their "temp help". For real answers call during normal hours during the week.
Several months ago I was in need of 3/16" rivets for the same style Oregon roller nose tips. I tried all of are site sponsors. I pm'd Gregg from Baileys. He spent weeks trying to find them for me. He stayed in contact with me through emails, even sent me emails from supply houses that he tried. He thought he had found them. He sent me a couple bags of them free of charge. It turned out there was a number change and they were the wrong ones. I was so impressed by the effort he put into finding me these minimal cost items that I offered to send the wrong ones back to him on my dime. He insisted I keep them. Finally after about a month, he said he could not get them. I couldn't believe how hard he worked for me to find these.
That's why I do business with them.

Here's a link to the rivets you need. Scroll down a little to the solid countersunk rivets. >>> McMaster-Carr

Wow...great info! Yeah, I know about calling Bailey's on the weekend. This wasn't about rivets but a bar for an Jonny 80 and the rat's nest of trouble because of the 'advice' I got when the bar got here. Had the same answer("antique saw-consider buying new") when I asked about Husky 2100 parts.

So which rivets did you get exactly? Were they steel or aluminum...and the size(length)? I'll go out and try to get some measurements....I figured there would be some jobber online with tons of commercial rivets. That's where they come from originally anyway, to the bar suppliers

OK did some measuring. The rivets are 3/16 as Ed said. The bar itself with the tip in place is slightly smaller like .184 or so....you have to allow extra length of course to peen back the one end. So tbone's rivets are probably correct. The link given has an aluminum 3/16 rivet that is .3125 long. That's longer than tbone's measurement of .270. It probably doesn't make much difference, but tbone has the original rivets I'm guessing?

A bar tip rivet is simply a softer piece of metal filling a hole. You can use nails or whatever. My dad used to tighten up his external rollers with pieces of siding nails.
